Will I need maternity swimwear at 16 weeks pregnant?

Tentatively asking this question as I'm a bit ahead of the game, only 7 weeks pregnant at the mo but we have a holiday coming up in May. I need a new cozzy anyway as I have put on weight and gone up a size since last summer Blush

I will be 16 weeks pregnant when we go away and I'm wondering if I can get away with a standard cozzy, or whether I should bite the bullet and get a maternity cozzy that I can continue to use throughout pregnancy? I just dnt want it to be all saggy and too big it my bump is not very big by then. Any ideas?

(To be fair I'm a size 16 and a bit larger than I'd like after my weight gain - it seems to have collected around my tum which is quite big even now so I'm sure I cld fill a maternity cozzy but thgt I'd check what u lovely mumsnetters thought Smile)

I sized up as I went along in standard Speedo Endurance athletic swimsuits - started out in a 32 or 34, was in a 38 up until 35 weeks when I finally bit the bullet and bought a maternity one.

On my first I had no bump at all till 24wks and I'd say it was more like 30+ before I would have needed a special shaped swim suit (although I would have worn a bikini so just needed bigger tip part). Id be surprised if you need a maternity swimsuit, especially at 16wks. Maybe just room on top for boobs.

I've just got one - I'm 13+3 and want to start more regular swimming, £10 ish from sports direct. I already have a bump (3rd baby, no longer own stomach muscles) and was a size 14-16 pre preg. It has room but doesn't feel or look ridiculous.

If you swim regularly, get a maternity swimsuit. My usual one didn't stretch much and I couldn't wear it by 20 weeks. I'm a size 18 and would also not contemplate a tankini!

I'm usually a size 16 and at 27 weeks was wearing my normal costume at CP. wouldn't bother with a maternity one!

I also wore my normal swimming costume right up until 39 weeks - they're pretty stretchy! So I think you'll be fine in a normal costume.
