Nuchal Scans in the Manchester/Cheshire area?

Hi

Has anyone had a nuchal scan in the Manchester or Cheshire area? If so, where and what was your experience like? I am going to have to pay for one to be done privately as I don't think it's offered on the NHS. Could anyone recommend a clinic/hospital please?
Thanks.

Countess of Chester hospital does them, in Chester. we went there. I think the private hospital in Whalley Range does them too but I've forgotten the name of the place.

I live in north lancs

had to go to leeds for mine

perfectly lovely place

LubyLoo · 02/01/2007 11:28

This place does them in North Wales and Stockport. I haven't used them myself but website looks very professional

mojomands · 02/01/2007 11:28

Where are you - There is a guy called Vince Hall who I can highly recommend at The Regency Private Hospital in Macclesfield.

chickenrice · 02/01/2007 12:07

Fennel, do you mean the Bupa hospital? I just rang them. Seems they have stopped doing them. I will bear the Leeds and Chester centres in mind. Has anyone used Ultrasound Now in Stockport? If so, what was your experience like.

Mojomands, I am in South Manchester. Please tell me more about Vince Hall. Thanks

There's a consultant at the Mid Cheshire Hospital, (Leighton Hospital in Crewe) that does them privately, Mr Luckas. We didn't have one but they are available...

slalomsuki · 02/01/2007 14:27

My cousin had one done privately at the NHS hospital in Crewe if that helps at all. Could find out the details if needed

Tinker · 02/01/2007 14:38

I had it done in Stockport. Would recommend.

Call 01625 661160 and ask for a tel no for Joel Mr Halls PA - she'll send you all the info. He does evening appointments which is great!

chickenrice · 04/01/2007 19:25

Thanks everyone including Mojomands for getting back to me about Mr Hall. Tinker, was yours at Ultrasound Now? Which sonographer did you see? Thanks

mine was organised from leeds but done at hope hospital in salford. just had to go to the drs on a certain date with a special pack for them to take blood which was sent of to leeds for analysis. had it done twice, two years in succession at the same place different sonographer. can remember the names but was very fast and efficient.

magicstaronthefarawaytree · 04/01/2007 20:16

the admin centre was leeds, paid privately for service but the scan was done at hope hospital.

brandnewhelsy · 04/01/2007 20:17

They also do them at Ormskirk Hospital - after hours, or they did 2 years ago when I had mine done there. However, it cost about £120 and there was no video!Oh, and I know that Ormskirk is not Manchester or Cheshire, but it depends what is easier for you to get an appointment at and or get to doesn't it?

12yeargap · 09/01/2007 07:34

I think Mr Lucas at Leighton, Crewe did my amnio. He was a bit stern, but did a good job.

homemama · 09/01/2007 11:34

Firstly, I'd agree with Kitty about Malcolm at Norfolk House. He was excellent. Very thorough and professional. I had a late scan done by him just cause I wanted to see my baby again and he still checked for any problems.

Also, I paid privately to have my nuchal scan at Hope Hospital in Eccles. The package included not just the scan but they also took bloods which they sent to the Leeds Screening service to give a more accurate result. Actually,no matter where you have the scan, if they don't do the bloods that go with it, you can ring Leeds or a pack, get your mw to take the bloods, send them off then phone then with your nuchal measurements and they'll give you a more accurate risk.

HTH, Good luck
