OK so I am 27+6 today, went to see consultant who said baby is 3 5ths engaged and then asked if I had been having any contractions (I have been having all kinds of pains and even had to go and be monitored for pre-term labour a couple of weeks ago. I did post about this) when I said yes he just kind of laughed. (he was slightly away with the fairies and left me with more questions to be answered than I originally had!)......I understand baby could even still turn back round as its very early, my first DS was engaged from about 34 weeks and was born at 40+5, so this is quite a few weeks earlier.

does anyone else have experience like this and ended up going early? or do you think he could just be tricking us all and will probs stay put and it means nothing at this stage!

It means absolutely nothing really. How engaged a baby is and how early has no bearing on when you'll go into labour. With second and subsequent babies it's normal for them to pop in and out of engagement over time as there's more room for them to do so.

My baby who engaged at 31 weeks and stayed there was born much later than her brother who didn't engage at all for the entire pregnancy.

Not quite that early but DS (2nd baby) engaged at 32 weeks and midwife thought he would come early. He stayed there until bang-on his due date! I walked like John Wayne forever for ages - sorry.
