Ok, there won't be a next time round for me (I do not enjoy pregnancy) but I thought it might be useful to share tips of things people wish they'd done or plan to do differently if they got pregnant again.
Mine are:
- I would have changed my midwife sooner to someone less dismissive.
- I would have directly requested a c section sooner rather than spend the whole pregnancy terrified and only address the issue at week 38.
- I would have taken folic acid pre-pregnancy (it was unplanned).
- I would have requested a blood test for my thyroid pre-pregnancy/in the first trimester.
- I would have done more exercise, eaten better, stayed more hydrated, slept more regularly, stressed less (less google) and had more fun with friends and family. This applies to my life pre-pregnancy as well though!
- I would have been more assertive with health professionals about my needs.
This is not about wallowing in regrets, but just about how we've learnt things!
