does anyone know if Lush products are safe to use during pregnancy?

I was given a Lush gift set for Christmas - the Chirpy Christmas one - but I don't know whether their products are safe to use right now as I'm 19 weeks pregnant. I know that some of their products contain aromatherpay oils, which aren't always advisable during pregnancy. There's nothing in the packaging to suggest that they can't be used and their UK site seems to be down at the moment. Does anyone know whether I can use these or not?

I used some Lush products whilst pg, did ask in the shop and was told that the oils were used in small amounts and should not be a prob. I would stay away from any that contain oils that are contraindicated for pregnancy, not sure off the top of my head what these are (clary sage?)

That's a good idea - thanks, Mae. I'll check the oils in each product and take it from there. Comforting to know that the shop staff told you it was ok.

Just in case anyone else is interested, got the following info from aromatherapy site;

OILS TO AVOID DURING PREGNANCY
Use of essential oils should be extremely limited or avoided during the first trimester of pregnancy, but has many wonderful uses in the last two trimesters and especially during labor.
Oils to avoid during pregnancy include:
Basil, Cedar Wood, Cinnamon, Clary sage (during labor), Clove, Cypress (after 5 months), Fennel, Hyssop, Jasmine (during labor), Juniper, Lemongrass, Myrrh, Parsley and Pennyroyal
OILS RECOMMENDED DURING PREGNANCY
The following oils will be comfortable for using during pregnancy. As always, use caution if you have allergies or a family history of allergies. If you feel you may be allergic to oil, do a patch test first. Good oils for pregnancy include:
Bergamot, Chamomile, Cypress (after 5 mos.), Eucalyptus, Frankincense, Geranium (avoid in early pregnancy), Grapefruit, Lavender. Lemon, Mandarin, Neroli, Patchouli, Petitgrain, Rosewood, Sandalwood and Tangerine

A bit contradictory where Cypress is concerned but might be useful all the same.

That's a good idea, Paula - sadly, the UK site is down at the moment. Thought about trying the USA site but advice may be conflicting. It's an excuse to get DH to drive me to the shops tomorrow so I can go to a store and find out (whilst visiting other shops, naturally)!!

Be careful the girls in my local Lush aren't terribly bright.

Paula, a bif off topic but I also use Dermalogica and the most fantastic website for cheap dermalogica is www.care4yourskin.com - they deliver within 48 hrs too.

Didn't really consider that I shouldn't be using it although I do only use their facial cleansers and moisturisers.

(Sorry for butting in!)
