OK, Sorry everyone if your still having breakfast but I wondered if this was just me.

In all the books i've read it says that during pregnancy most people will get constipated. However, I seem to have had the opposite problem and cant stop going. Im 40 weeks today and am panicking about pooing during the labour.

Anyone else noticed this?

You may poo before the pushing stage, Kbaby.

I was worried I'd poo myself involuntarily but I just had to go to the loo a couple of hours into it.

However, it would have been the least of my worries if I had gone when pushing! You won't care by then, honest!

Good luck with everything, Dinny

kbaby, like you I was horrified at the thought I might do this when in labour. It did happen but at that moment I just didnt care, I was in agony and desperate to get the baby out so a bit of poo really didnt phase me! Pls dont worry, they have seen it all before. Your bowels may be so active at the moment as your body is preparing itself for labour, it often happens. Is your bag packed?

I've been going all the time throughout this pregnancy. I figure better that than constipated - less chance of piles
I was the same last time and I didn't poo during labour so it's not inevitable.
I did however have an episiotomy and a 3rd degree tear so all in all a bit of poo might have been preferable

i worry about this too kbaby. and i have not been constipated, and like you a bit runny on most occasions! hoping that will need to go to the loo b4 the pushing stage. read that often when you begin getting contractions, you need to poo. or when the waters go you have an urge, all with the baby bearing down on your bowels. this is how my friend felt and needed to go as soon as her waters went. i dont really know though, as a first timer, but hoping that'll be me!

If you're that loose, Kbaby, it may all be out & gone long before you get to the pushing stage in labour.
I never had constipation in my pregnancies, either, and iron tablets particularly gave me the opposite problem!

Hopefully ill go while in labour then. I just have visions that as ive been a bit loose all the way through pregnancy that I poo while pushing and it wont be very pleasant.
Like you said I may be too busy to notice what ive done. Although maybe the smell may give it away
