being measured for bras

When should I be measured for a new bra? I'm currently 27 weeks pregnant and have brought some bra extenders but they are still digging in.
I was hoping to be able to get away with wearing my old bras until I need nursing ones.
If I was measured now I'm assuming the nursing bras might not fit after birth?

If you are uncomfortable, get yourself one black and one nude coloured bra that fits. 10 weeks is a long time to not be wearing the correct bra.

I believe you are correct in saying it is too early to buy nursing bras.

I was told to wait until about 38 weeks to be fitted for nursing bras by an independent bra shop.

I'd get measured after birth, actually.
I went up at least two cup sizes. At 38 weeks I was the same as at 12 weeks.
But if they don't fit now, then I'd get some comfy ones.

I bought a very expensive nursing bra at 38 weeks with s 'fistful of room' as advised - I had to go back once DS had arrived as my boobs were ginormous, so personally I'd get a well fitted comfy bra now, and save the cash for when you have your baby.

I wore a supportive breastfeeding vest for about two weeks after the birth before getting proper bras. My boobs were comedy proportions when my milk came in (also v painful). I couldn't have predicted what size I would need while still pregnant.

Definitely advise you get something that fits now on the tightest hook that you can let out a bit. Don't spend a lot as you might need more in a couple of months.

Definitely don't buy nursing bras now! I went up by two cup sizes overnight when my milk came in.
At 27 weeks I was probably a 32FF. Went to a 34G by 40 weeks, and my nursing bras were a 34HH... if I'd been fitted at 27 weeks I'd have barely fitted a nipple into them by the time the bras came to be worn!

I'm up 6 cup sizes already and am 35 weeks now - I was out of my pre-pregnancy bras at 8 weeks, bought a bra at 9 weeks that only got me to 13 weeks before I was bursting out of its stretch lace (poor Panache Andorra...) and have just been trying to keep up since then by buying cheap bras from Amazon every time I go up 1-2 sizes. I'm already a 32J and terrified about how big I'm going to need my nursing bras to be.

Just buy a couple of cheap bras now to last you the next few months and get fitted for nursing bras after delivery and when you know you'll carry on breastfeeding. They aren't cheap!

Primark do a two-pack of nursing bras for £8 if you want something cheap, maybe until you decide it's worth spending more on a properly fitted one.

I definitely agree that you shouldn't spend money on nursing bras until at least a couple of weeks after the birth. You will change size and you will want nursing bras that fit well.

Personally I'd get fitted for a just one new normal bra as I agree 10 weeks is a long time to be in a badly fitted bra. If your boobs increase in size again a few weeks before the birth, you can always get some very cheap stretchy crop top style soft bras which are actually useful after the birth to wear to sleep in with breast pads and also until your boobs settle and you get measured for nursing bras.
