Use of toilets whilst pregnant

At 36+ weeks I have just been refused by a community centre to use their toilets. Admittedly they had a no public toilets sign but I thought you had to let pregnant women use the toilet? Or is it just discretionary?

I don't think anywhere HAS to let a pregnant woman use the toilets, I've never heard of such a rule.
obviously it would be nice if people did as you are colearly in need but if they've gone as far as having a "no public toilets" sign, they have obviously had a problem with people using (and maybe abusing) their facilities in the past. i'm assuming you just came in off the street, rather than you were already doing something there.

Yes, just walked in off the street.
I understand that they don't want people just going in to use the toilet as that would be annoying.

It's a crap world we live in when someone who is clearly not taking the pee (no pun intended) is refused the toilet (and I am massive so no mistaking my belly for pregnancy)

I used the toilet in the Drs surgery next door who were more than happy to allow me so I did get to use the toilet. Just shocked that I was refused

I feel for you thats rubbish of them, really rubbish...just human decency isn't it. Maybe uck of the draw with how you actually spoke to, I'm ll for bending the rules for people in need!!!!! Glad you got to a loo, scarey when pregs sometimes x

Is it true that a policeofficer has to let a pregnant woman use his/her hat to urinate in? Random I know!

I once invited a heavily pregnant and clearly desperate for the toilet to use the toilet before me when I was in front of a queue. Another woman waiting behind me had a massive go at me for letting her "queue-jump". What a miserable bitch!

My ex is a copper and hates the pregnant woman weeing in his hat question as apparently people ask it all the time.... His answer is always no fucking way is anyone weeing in my hat! Sorry, slight detail there!

When I was pregnant people were always lovely about letting me use the loo - maybe you just caught someone on a bad day? It seems a bit ruthless not to let someone clearly in need doesn't it?

Lj8893, it used to be true but alas no more.

I guess there is the chance of them saying "no except if you're pregnant" then gets stretched to "no but only if you're pregnant and for toddlers and people who say they are ill" and you end up with lots of people asking to use their loos.

May also depend how many parents they have working in the community centre. I guess it depends where their loos are and whether you had the opportunity to over stay your welcome and use their facilities whilst using the loo.

I just wouldn't even think of saying no. I had a heavily pregnant woman turn up to where I work (private company) and ask if she could use the toilet as she was waiting for an MOT on her car around the corner. To get to us she would have walked past a garage which has a cafe and toilet. It didn't even occur to me to say no (before I had ever been pregnant). I offered her
It doesn't take much to help someone in out in such a small way

Their loos are just near the reception. I wouldn't be able to use anything else in there (I have been in there before for slimming world)

I had this happen to me last week in a pharmacy, I was picking up a prescription and was bursting, the pharmacist knew I was pregnant as I'm 37 weeks and he was explain about how my medication is safe in pregnancy, and when I asked to use the toilet, practically bouncing up and down, he said no it's for staff only. I almost peed myself on the drive home!

People can be such assholes! Luckily not the lovely man in B&Q who led me through two flights of stairs and many corridors to get to the staff loo whilst I nearly wet myself mid-shop.

He waited for me outside, then took me back to my trolley. Common sense and humanity is all you want in people, especially when your bladder is being used as a discotheque!
