Anti-D antibodies detected

In need of some hand-holding.

I'm 15 weeks, 3rd pregnancy and Rh negative. My 2nd pregnancy ended in TFMR in October, at which time I got anti-D, but I'm guessing that was the sensitising event.

I had booking bloods done last week and just got a message from my midwife to say they've detected anti-D and I have to go in for titres tomorrow and will be monitored throughout the pregnancy.

Has anyone been through similar?

I'm not panicking but obviously I'm pretty worried about rhesus disease. I thought we were finally in the clear after our terrible outcome time last time:( Of course this isn't as bad but I have no idea what to expect, what titres are good or bad, what the likelihood is of problems for the baby at this stage....

Any experience most welcome.

No, I'm actually not as far as you. I'm 7 weeks with DC2, and was advised I had developed red cell antibodies after DD1 was born. Not had my booking yet so no info to help I'm afraid.

I thought i might have them but didnt in the end. Midwife said to me not to worry but if i remeber rightly; she said i would be monitored as you say and they would likely 'induce' the Birth rather than natural to control it, but cant be sure this was 100% right so best wait to see what they say, in all honesty my midwife didnt seem too concerned.

She said something about having an extra blood test? If i remeber rightly ..and the induced thing may have been dependent on this...hmmm sorry i cant be more help.

Thanks Alice. Yes I think management depends on checking blood levels regularly and if the levels are rising they may induce early.

I had an induction ending in CS last time so not too bothered what they decide on for delivery as long as baby is okay.

Just to update.

I saw my midwife yesterday- she seemed to think the anti-D detected may well have been from the shot I had in October, although the lab asked if I had received any in the last 3 months so I'm a month outside that cut-off.

In any case she took two bottles for antibody screen and quantitation and they'll be back in a week or so.

If they confirm the presence of anti-D I'll have levels checked every 4 weeks until 28 weeks, and every 2 weeks thereafter. If my levels go into "double digits" I'll be referred to a Fetal Medicine Specialist and have regular ultrasounds to check, I think, middle cerebral artery flow (??) in the baby as a marker for anaemia.

So still up in the air a bit but I'm reeally hoping it turns out to have been residual antibodies from October rather than my body making them.

I'll post again if it turns out I'll need monitoring- more for other people's information at this stage!
