stitch is out! how long?

hi just wondering if ant one experianced this i had my cervical stitch removed on 27th its just a matter of time now but would like to here form any one with this experiance

Hi have looked after wi=omen with cervical sutures as a midwife and have to say it either seems to go one way or another, the stitch is removed as they are in active labour and have started to dilated, usually pre term but not often before 34 weeks, or the suture is removed at 37/38 weeks and they just hold onto the baby until it's ready to come, bizzare I know, espesially when you look at the history of some of the women, I can only conclude that these needed the suture to get past a certain gestation (most had lost their babies between 20 and 26 weeks) and then it was no longer a nessesity for them. I have also had a stitch put in at 11 weeks, I'm now 14 weeks.

Just wondered what advice you were given? DR has told me it's ok to go back to work, but friends have said people they know where told to have complete bed rest for months on end!

I'm starting to get really worried about it.

I went into labour 1 week after having my stich removed with my first daughter and over two weeks after having it removed with my second daughter.

I rested for a few days after I had it put in and then went back to normal although I did barely any lifting or carrying.

Did you have the stich with a general or local anasthetic as I had a local and both times found it quite traumatic. Next time I would like a general though I'm sure not how common this is.

Thanks for replying so quickly. I've been on other sites and only had 1 reply - I've been going CRAZY!

I had a general so didn't have a clue what was going on, which was quite nice really. Left hospital later that evening and used paracetamol the next day, but then it was fine.

I'm in Egypt, so I don't know the 'rules' about operations etc in the UK, but I'm sure if cause a great big scene you'll get what you want!

I'm back to work on the 8th Jan and have been told to sit as much as poss. I work in a school so my poor class will have to do everything! Nevermind, it will teach them to be responsible and think of others!

I had my first stich put in just before christmas and went back to work just after new year aswell. My daughter was born 20th June. It was probably harder the second time around as I didn't have so much of a chance to sit down but everything went really well.
