8w, but horrible CB digital says 2-3 (4-5)

I'm 8w by LMP, but have no symptoms at all. So I did a CBD this morning (I know, I know) which informed me I'm 2-3/4-5w.

If it helpsthe cb digital rests were never accurate with me always behind in weeks and I currently have a 4 year old and am 32 weeks with my second.

I do feel for you, it's so awful in the early weeks having no idea what is going on in there and the CB digis do offer some sort of extra info but there lie demons.....

You've done the right thing booking the early scan so hope you don't have too long to wait. If it's any reassurance I had one at 8 weeks and had had zero symptoms before, but all was fine, heartbeat and size spot on for dates. I'm now biting my nails again till my 12 weeks scan in 10 days' time. The worry is awful.

Demons indeed. I feel awful having seen the result. And honestly, I'm no better off than if I hadn't done it. That's why I had booked the scan anyway (end of next week).

Time seems to have slowed down! Every day is like a week.

I know exactly what you mean about the time. I have never felt anything like it, it's torture. I also think it's made much worse by not being able to have a drink to take the edge off

Can you bring the early scan forward? By eight weeks you will be able to see baby if all is well. And sounds like you really need to know one way or the other.

Definitely bring your scan forward if you're worrying, I had several miscarriages and had a viability scan at 8 weeks and saw her heartbeat etc. It was so reassuring.

Good point- if it's private they're usually pretty flexible about time. Only reason to delay would be it being possibly too early to see a hb even if all OK, so scan is just inconclusive. However if you are sure of the dates 8 weeks is plenty.

I did one that said 2-3 weeks when I was 7 weeks pregnant, am now 23 weeks so I think sometimes there not that accurate I second what others have said, if it's a private scan try and move it forwards for peace of mind as 8 weeks is a safe time to see the heartbeat anyway

I'm happy to be corrected, but doesn't clear blue work on beta-hcg levels which can vary between women. Google hcg level pregnancy and you'll see that in normal healthy pregnancies there's a huge range. Pee tests aren't that accurate which is why they aren't used as definitive due date testing and you have scans instead. Best of luck with everything. :-)

Sorry can't be bothered to source from proper scientific journal, but you'll see in the table there's huge overlap in hcg levels.
I.e hcg of 50,000mul/ml could mean a woman is anything between 6 - 40 weeks pregnant! Unless you know all your weekly values so you can make your own hcg graph, stand alone hcg value isn't that useful (except for determining pregnant/not pregnant). Clear blue dating thing is a nice gimmick but not accurate. Told me I was 2 weeks when I knew I was 4 (knew my ovulation date).

But also, if you're having a private scan, I had one at 8 weeks and thought it was well worth it. :-)

In somewhat awkward timing DH is having a minor op next week, which means Saturday is the earliest both of us can go (I'm not going without him). Otherwise I would definitely have scheduled it earlier.

Thanks for looking up the HCG levels for me Special. The CB digital cut off for a 3+ measurement is 2200, and by 7-8 weeks on that table the expected min is >7000. As I'm reading 2-3 weeks, that's what putting the doubt in my mind. That, and no symptoms.

Well, all I can do is get on with next week, get DH through his op and then see what will be in the scan.

Normal ranges are just that though. You'll have perfectly healthy pregnancies that can fall outside those ranges.

The accuracy of the dating on clear blue is 93%. That means 7% of the time it is wrong even though the women have a healthy pregnancy with the right hcg levels.

Lots of women don't get symptoms. My mum didn't know she was pregnant with dsis until four months, and my sister was a very fat, happy baby! As always, look after yourself and any abdomen pain or spotting/bleeding then go chat to your gp/midwife (have you had a booking in appointment yet?).

It sounds like you have a busy week ahead. Hope your dp's op goes ok, and that all is well with your pregnancy!

My rational mind completely agrees with you, Special. I think I want this so badly that I'm struggling to be entirely rational. I can see how your Mum got to four months without knowing, hopefully that will reflect my experience with lack of symptoms too.

Am booked in with my midwife. I would call her but I'm a little embarrassed as no doubt she will say 'those tests can't be trusted 100%'. So, I'll try and put it out of my mind and see what the scan shows.

I had no symptoms at 8 weeks, then the nausea and vomiting arrived with a vengeance at about 8.5/9 weeks.

CB's aren't meant to be particularly sensitive either.

I would book a reassurance scan earlier if it would put your mind at ease but I wouldn't worry about the result you got today.

If you are worried, it might be reassuring to have a chat with your midwife? She will have been contacted about far more trivial issues, I'm sure.

I, sadly, have no idea how women dont know that they are pregnant, as I have been constantly vomiting since Christmas. It's miserable, and makes you worry about a whole different set of things (am I starving baby, will the anti sickness meds give my baby a major birth defect, will I get a hospital acquired infection from being admitted, why am I failing at pregnancy when everyone else I know has found it so easy).

Is this your first baby too? I'm 12 weeks, and a complete worrier. The only reason I haven't been bombarding my midwife with questions is that I'm married to a hcp and have lots of friends working for the NHS I can ask silly questions! I've posted lots as well, which has helped me a lot recently. Have you told anyone in real life? I told close friends early on, and really value how much support they've given me.

It is also possible that you are a few weeks different to your LMP. My estimated due date is over a week before my lmp date. This ties in with my ovulation date, as I was using opk when we were TTC.

Your baby will be very lucky to be so loved and wanted when it arrives.

I feel for you, a difficult and rocky time. Here's my story. I took a test 5.5 weeks after my LMP and Clearblue said 1-2 weeks pregnant. I tested at the same time with my first DC and it said 3+ weeks. I then went for a private scan at 7wks +5 and they could see fetal pole and yolk sax but no heartbeat. They said good chance your dates are out, come back in two weeks. I was 100% confident that my dates were right so I assumed the worse. Went back two weeks later and there was the heartbeat My dates are definitely right but the scan puts me back by two weeks so I must have ovulated late in the month. So don't worry too much about how many weeks you should be according to your LMP.

Try not to worry op. Nothing you can do about any outcome. Just to try to put your mind at rest look at my hpt from 8+1 attached which I took as was concerned by lack on symptoms. I had a scan later on that day and all was fine. I was so stressed out by the lack of a dark line especially as hcg is supposed to peak at around 8w, luckily unfounded. I have now binned my hpts so I can't test again. Hope that helps to put your mind at rest. Best of luck

Thanks all. Yes, it's my first (I suspect it was easy to guess). Special, you are worried about having sickness, and I'm scared because of none - I'm learning this really is a crazy game. Not used to something so out of my control, maybe.

I'm pretty certain of my dates, but of course it's not an exact science.

I had a scan today at EPU due to bleeding. I've lost the pregnancy.

It seems the CBD was right about my HCG levels.

I'm so sad I can't really find any words.
