blood test for pre eclampsia at 16 weeks anyone had this so early?

I had routine cervix scan today and as normal had to pee in pot and get blood pressure checked. Blood pressure was high (something over 80 I couldn't see) and I had protien in my urine. So doc has taken blood and sent it to lab to check for pre eclampsia. He then said I would have results tomorrow, but regardless of outcome I now need blood pressure checked every week. So I'm a little worried. I thought pre eclampsia only happened past 20 weeks. He also said even if blood test came back negative it didn't mean I couldn't develop it later on.
Has anyone else been tested so early? Thanks for help.

I was when I had headaches and swollen ankles at about 15/16 weeks in my first pregnancy. It apparantly is very rare but can happen.
Its good they're keeping an eye on you.

Did it come back as positive? What did you do next? I'm getting really worried as the only solution seems to be having the baby and I'm way too early. The doctor has fobbed me off with a don't worry but he then said that even if test was negative I could still develop it. He gave no other info and I've done the worst thing by hitting Google thanks for help X

How much protein it could be an infection. /80 isn't terribly high, don't know the top number and neither do you? High BP is anything 140/90 and above. Could it be possible that you have high BP anyway pre pregnancy?

I've always had low blood pressure. So I was a little surprised when they said it was high. I usually suffer from fainting etc. I am on anti biotics for a chest infection I mentioned it to my doc but he still wanted to do my bloods. I guess I should be glad he is being thorough. He said regardless of result I have to get my bp checked weekly. I've had a number of mc so I'm already on increased checks. This just seems to be another worry that I didn't have before. But I guess I'll know tomorrow so worrying won't help. Thank you for your response, it's appreciated

Could well be to do with the chest infection. As you say better have the extra checks. I'm going through the same but a little further in than you (26 weeks). This is my 3rd and I was hypertensive pre pregnancy. Had pre e with my first and no issues with BP with second. Am cross its jumped up this time but hoping to avoid pre e! Good luck!

Argh well I will defo be keeping my fingers crossed for you. I didn't really know what preeclampsia was until today and now after Google I know too bloomin much!

Don't really have anything useful to add, but just wanted to pop by and say good luck for today. PE is very unpredictable and shows up differently in everyone so it's good they're being extra cautious. It sucks, and I hope your chest infection's the real culprit here, but if it is PE then it's definitely better to know. I had it with first pregnancy from about 32 weeks and managed to keep baby in for 4 more weeks (fwiw my bp was never higher than 100-something over 80ish, but I guess that was high for me). Like kamillaw it's just started to show again in this pregnancy. I'm 25 weeks. Let us know how you get on today. All fingers crossed.

I had pre eclampsia last time but it was later on in the pregnancy. This time all seems ok but I have had a few instances of protein in my urine. Turns out it's caused by thrush. I was on antibiotics for a sinus infection at around 25 weeks and it triggered thrush that I just can't get rid of. My urine sample on Tuesday had ++ protein in it. Have you noticed any increase in discharge or anything ?

Hello! During my 12 week scan I was told I was 'at risk of developing pre-eclampsia', in my case this was because they could see, via a vaginal scan, that the arteries going to the placenta were too thick.... Or something like that.

I had to have weekly BP checks after that. Mine crept up very slowly, until a few days before due date when it shot up, so I was induced.

Don't worry, at this early stage induction isn't your only option. It's quite common for people to be put on daily low dose aspirin for months to help keep BP low, and even once mine had shot up they were able to give me drugs to keep it under control until baby arrived.

It's good that they've possibly picked up warning signs so early, it gives the Dr's a Chance to manage the condition.

Hey everyone, little update
The hospital has just called and all my bloods are within normal range So they are just going to monitor my blood pressure weekly. I am very relieved, the nurse said it would be extremely unlikely to develop it at such an early stage but a couple of things do put me at higher risk (age, 11 years since last successful pregnancy). Anyway, the doc clearly has his eye on the ball so I'm going to quit stressing (for now).
