Tests when 40+ and pregnant

I'm 6 weeks in - with my 1st!! Anyone have any advice on any extra tests they have had due to being 40 and pregnant? Thanks all!

Nope. They don't do anything different unless you develop issues. They may not let you go beyond 40 weeks but that probably depends where you are. 40 is very unexciting to them - very common especially in London. Hope all goes well and many congrats!

You may be able to get the Harmony free depending where you are. Otherwise it's around £400 privately and well worth it in my experience

Congrats! I'm 42 with my first. I'm 29 weeks now and I think the only extras I'm getting are growth scans at 28, 32 and 36 weeks. I do think it depends on the hospital. Other than that, I'm glad to say they haven't batted an eyelid!

fantastic thanks all. I have friends who've gone private for extra tests after a bad experience with bloods being mixed up by the hosp with their first, leading to a 2 week delay. I'll see how I go.. and thank you!!

The Harmony test was fantastic IMO. Well worth the money for peace of mind. Simple blood draw at 10wks and results at 12wks. You can even find out the sex for sure at 12wks if that's what you want. We chose not to find out the sex.

The problem with the NHS nuchal and the NHS bloods is that they automatically come back much higher risk due to you being over 40. This causes lots of unnecessary angst and upset. Much better, if you can afford it, to go straight to Harmony IMO.

If you are London based then the FMC are the best and usually the cheapest for Harmony.

I'm 40 and 24 weeks with my first. All it's meant to me is that I'm partially consultant led. And all that means is having a consultant meeting after both my scans. No extra appointments or scans.
