When did you start using 'pee mats'

Not sure what they are called really, but when did everyone start protecting beds/sofas etc just in case waters went? Also, what did you use? I'm guessing for a bed you would use one of the sheets used when children wet the bed? Or do you just not bother?

We have a really expensive tempur mattress and any spillages would completely ruin it so I've just put a plasticky waterproof protector on at 34 weeks. I don't care if they go anywhere else - can be cleaned and dried - but don't want to risk the mattress!

Never. I didn't know this was a thing. My waters went 3 minutes before he was delivered!

from 37 weeks. Mine started to go whilst in bed, but didn't fully burst until I got to the hospital and was about to be examined at which point it was just the hospital bed that got soaked. One of my friends due around the same time, hers broke completely in bed. It does happen.

Is this a thing? Never.

I am only 25 weeks, but I have got myself a waterproof mattress cover. I felt that spending under £20 to guarantee not ruining an expensive mattress if the waters break at night, seemed a good investment.

I already had a waterproof mattress protector from having an elderly relative to stay. I put it on the bed at 37 weeks. The mattress is only a few months old, so I don't want it ruined.

I didn't get a chance to think about it with my first - had a bloody show all over my cream sofa (think horror show) at 35 weeks, waters broke all over the carpet at 36weeks, yup like in the films. Both cleared up fine and you'd never know what had happened.
This time I've got a cover on my mattress already and will probably sit on a blanket from about 34wks but to be honest I wouldn't stress over it. Nothing was ruined by not being prepared I just needed a bit of Vanish.

I've never considered this either. My waters did go in spectacular fashion with dc3 while in bed asleep but I leapt out so fast it was nothing that a change of bedding and pat down with a towel didn't fix! We do plan on getting a new mattress before dc4 arrives in April so I guess it might be worth protecting.
