Period pain at 31 weeks

Is it normal to have occasional mild period type pain? I have been getting it very rarely from about 20 weeks but now it is most days just once, lasts maybe half a minute. Anyone else get this? Are Braxton hicks supposed to be painless?

I have been getting these (maybe five times a week, sometimes a bit more) throughout my pregnancy and am currently 29 weeks. I mentioned it to the midwives a couple of times but they just said it was normal and weren't bothered if it wasn't painful enough to warrant even taking a paracetamol. I'm not sure about the Braxton Hicks point - I don't think that is what mine were/are, because I don't get the rock hard bump thing at the same time.
