Hi .... just wondered what your thoughts are about it, any concerns and why you decided?

Much thanks x

You CAN pee in your pool

I had useless midwives

I had a home birth for my first and second birth, loved it felt so much safer than my third birth in hospital (conned into being induced! Wasn't even my most overdue pregnancy!) no idea why I went but I won't be going again!
Live about 40 min from hospital and had Togo in after first birth with retained placenta.
Didn't have a pool just used bath, both births relatively stress and pain (well not too bad) free with just gas and air, hospital birth hurt like hell.
I hate being fiddled with and just wanted to roam around which you can do at home no problems.
Had 2 midwifed with the first and 4 with second as it was their handover, both lots brilliant, relaxed and sat eating bacons armies and drinking tea 5 mins after birth, tucked in my own bed Smile can't beat it!
Good luck with whatever you decide!!

I've come late to this thread. Why can't you wee in a birthing pool when you will most probably shit in it?

I planned a HB with my first (didn't get it in the end for unavoidable reasons). I knew the stats were slightly worse for first timers but balanced that against the fact that I live very close to the hospital and the midwives in my area are v experienced at doing home births.

First labours are more likely to be long and difficult which is probably why they are more likely to transfer in. Plus the first labour presumably weeds or those women who cannot give birth naturally for any reason, those second timers who opt for a HB will almost all have had a vaginal birth and feel able to cope without an epidural.

My second birth was at home and was so much nicer than my first.

Good luck!

We did

Pool in the lounge for number 1 (ended in hospital as labour stopped but was all still natural and left to do it ourselves)
On the floor in the lounge for number 2
Hopefully number 3 due in April in the cosy bedroom I am thinking :)

Hi Runningupthathill82 - I can see no one in the know has got back to you on thread.

Just wanted to add that although I never pool'ed a baby. My guess it, yo ucan at the end but not at beginning. I think an odd one anyhow because wee is sterile?
