What does 'Ultrasound view: Restricted by fetal position' mean?

I've just noticed this on my Ultrasound notes. But the midwife said nothing when she was scanning and she got really clear images and measurements. It then says that heart, spine and bladder were not examined. Is that just because they don't examine them at 13 weeks?

It just means that the baby was in a position that made a clear view of certain things impossible. They do normally have a little look at the heart and spine- I can't remember about the bladder- but then look at everything in more detail at your 20 week scan. If there was any cause for concern they would be re-scanning so clearly they saw all they needed too. Ask your midwife when you see her, to reassure you.

I had 6 yes 6 're scans because of that one line haha

It means baby has decided to adopt a position that hinders whatever they were trying to look at.

My DS seemed to want to spend his entire time curled up in a ball with his head between his knees for all my scans Hmm

It just seems weird she didn't say anything - she said it was a perfect scan!

Mine always says that. He use to curl right up into the side of my uterus and not move. Now I'm almost 34 weeks and always get restricted view due to fetal anterior spine. They'll do a more detailed check at 20 weeks. Next time you go for a scan try having coffee or some chocolate about 20-30 mins before. Good tip I got off the sonographer as it gets baby moving so they can see more.

If it was an issue then they would have said, the anomaly scan will be in much more detail than the dating scan

Thanks everyone. I rang the midwife at the hospital today and she said they wouldn't do a detailed scan of the heart and spine till 20 weeks, so it just meant they hadn't been able to see the bladder cause baby had possibly just done a wee! Got my 20 week appointment sorted too :-)
