short femur - anyone know anything about this?

I had a 14 week scan this week and was told that my babe has short femur bones - it's a 'soft sign' for Downs, apparently, but I had a nuchal scan and the risk was v. low; the nurse who did the scan checked heart rate and other 'soft signs' and said that everything else looked fine and that the baby might just be a bit short. But how short?! I'm 5'3 and DH is 5'11; presumably 'short' means well below average, rather than just 'on the short side'. Just wondering if anyone has had any experience of this?

Me! Exactly the same situation, although as I was almost 40 at the time there was slightly more cause for concern.

I am about 5' 3 and dh about 5' 6. And ds (nearly 3) is of normal stature.

Sorry for such a brief post, I must rush.
