Those with cervical shortening and subsequent pregnancies

I have a 7 1/2 month DD and had cervical shortening in pregnancy. My cervix shortened from 3.4 at 23 weeks to 2.4 at 24 weeks, I was given steroid injections and had to use progesterone pessaries until 37 weeks, 3 x 400mg a day. I was signed off at 32 weeks and ordered to rest as much as possible, as my cevix was soft as well.

It was stressful as I was constantly worried about premature labour, but the progesterone and rest got me to 40+5.

My question is has anyone had this issue with subsequent pregnancies? It's completely put me off having a second child as I know I would be anxious from the off. I as lucky in that I had a pretty perfect labour, but it is pregnancy that makes me say a hard no to anymore children.

I'm worried that pregnancy and childbirth will make my cervix even weaker for next time...

I lost my first born at 23 weeks due to cervical weakness.

My last pregnancy a scan showed at 17 weeks that my cervix shortened from 2.5cm to 1.2cm over night I had an emergency stitch placed. I had monthly scans until 28 weeks and steriods at 24/28 weeks. My stitch was removed at 36+6 weeks and she was born 5 days later at 37+4 weeks.

I'm currently expecting due 08/02. I had a stitch placed before my cervix could shorten at 15 weeks. My cervix measured 2.4cm. I've had monthly scans since 20 weeks to check babies growth and steriods at 24 weeks. I'm now 37+2 weeks, stitch was removed on Monday. I've managed this pregnancy whilst running around after a 1 year old

Congrats though on your current pregnancy and other baby.

I'm worried that they won't bother checking next time as I went overdue. My cousin has recently had a baby at 32 weeks, her cervix wasn't scanned in this pregnancy as she managed to get to full term with the previous pregnancy despite the cervical issues. The consultant apologised and said that they shouldn't have assumed. All is well now, but am concerned about the same and also was worried about another stressful pregnancy, sounds like you're managing amazingly well.

If they treated you for cervical issues in a previous pregnancy they will look into it and check with the next
