same with my first....in maternity clothes v quick...........looked like i was having triplets by 14 weeks !1 slowed down though! don';t worry.......as long as you are not eating everything in sight, you won;t be a blimp.....you';ll probably have a lovley big bump to show off sooner rather than later !!

marymillington · 20/12/2006 21:16

you sound so excited about it! congratulations.
i think i started to be aware of a bit of bump at about 12 weeks with my first, earlier with this pg, now at 34 weeks i am like a ship in full sail. truth is i never had any stomach muscles to write home about.
you don;t have to end up enormous all over if you stay as active as you can without overdoing it, and eat healthily. enjoy it!

bramblina · 20/12/2006 21:17

I found that it all came in waves- nothing for weeks then overnight I grew a bump! It will slow down, don't worry!

lulumama · 20/12/2006 21:18

and congratulations......i saw Mary a few weeks ago...she looks glorious !

FrostyTheSnowMarsLady · 20/12/2006 21:18

Babe..... I went up a skirt size at conception with each of mine(including the first), by 6 months people were coming out of houses and shops to offer me water, a seat, a cot! There wasn't much difference in size for my singletons or my twins! Sigh..............

marymillington · 20/12/2006 21:21

yes, there are those benefits to showing early, you do get preferential treatment on public transport......

(why thankyou lulu)

Charlie20 · 20/12/2006 22:08

topshop is fantastic
warehouse do mat wear online
both go up to size 16 and v trendy
isabella oliver is pricey but the stuff i have has seen me through 2 pregnancies is still in great nick and very comfortable.
keep checking on here as people often sell their maternity wear on the for sale boards.

satine · 20/12/2006 22:34

H & M! They're fantastic for maternity wear - it's cheap, fashionable and comfortable. Don't bother with any expensive shops like Formes - you won't get the wear out of the stuff.

Charlie20 · 21/12/2006 00:05

i just looked at h+m and topshop! they are really quite nice! i have my first doctor appointment on monday so cant wait! i will ask him about the weight issue to as it is a worry and i do have diebetes in my family which i know can be a problem during pregnancy

charlie20 -I am a big girl anway and I have thickened, around the waist was a size 18, now need to wear a 20 for comfort. I do look about 4 months pg, (but it is my third) When are you due July or August? ( I am due 15th July)

BrandyTutter · 21/12/2006 08:22

hi i remember with ds that i last wore my normal jeans at 11 weeks - by then i'd already gained 1/2 a stone

this time round i ditched my jeans a couple of weeks ago (i'm now nearly 10 weeks) and bought some bigger ones to see me through til i can wear mat clothes

my friend on the other hand is on her first pregnancy and has only just started to show - she's 28 weeks

Charlie20 · 21/12/2006 08:41

im due late july but as i havent had a scan yet im not a hundred percent sure! according to my dates it should be in the last week of july (glad we dont have to go through August as well! the heat will be hard to handle when im that big!)

Oh the joys of expansion...

I decided to buck the trend of first timers showing late and started looking distinctly rounded at about 8wks. I was in maternity clothes by 12wks and at 20wks I am pleased to report that my bump has now achieved epic proportions. I'm trying to get an appointment with English Heritage before Christmas to see if it fulfils the requirements for certification as a large, important landmark... just waiting for some intrepid climber to start scaling it.

I'm a size 10 usually and still very slim everywhere else, it's just this gargantuan bump that is giving me away. Once I had got over the utter shock of turning into a biffa overnight, I began to enjoy the fact that people could visibly see why I was knackered and prone to fainting on public transport. And old ladies do love to smile knowingly at you.

As for movements, it's usually 17wks but can be a couple of weeks earlier for subsequent pregnancies or much later depending on the way the baby lies/location of placenta etc. I started feeling very definite movement at about 18 weeks.

Congrats and enjoy!

Charlie20 · 22/12/2006 11:30

thanks for that! at least i no im not alone with worrying about not being able to fit through the doors in a few months (maybe weeks) time!! i think i may have to break out the maternity clothes sooner then i had planned! oh well i guess i can enjoy it and hope it drops off as quickly as it is gaining on my now!!!!!!

Just to reassure you a bit more, I had fab stomach muscles, but still began to show at 7 weeks. Health visitor asked if the baby was due before long and I was only 21 weeks!

Charlie20 · 22/12/2006 11:56

well im looking forward to my scan just to make sure my dates are correct and that it is just one big baby or fluid retention i keep hearing about! what is the fluid used for this early on in the pregnacy? is that wot the bloating feeling is?
