I'm only 8 weeks and I haven't had any midwife appointments yet. It's my second baby. Dh thinks I should tell them because I feel so ill and it's hard pretending I'm fine all the time because I see them so regularly. He thinks they'll be a help to me especially with my toddler. I told them at 9 weeks last time but I had had an early scan.

I really hate making big announcements I don't like the attention on me so I'm happy to put it off but I do see the benefit of them knowing and once they do know I'd probably be glad they did iyswim

I can't decide!

Congratulations and tell them! It'll make their day.

Nishky · 17/01/2016 10:27

Pregnant with a toddler? Potential for extra help?

TELL THEM.

Congratulations!

Nishky · 17/01/2016 10:28

Imperial is clearly a much nicer person than I am!

WhoKn0wsWhereTheMistletoes · 17/01/2016 10:29

I would, they are your parents, you don't have to tell anyone else yet. Congratulations and hope you feel better soon.

Iggi999 · 17/01/2016 10:32

It doesn't have to be a massive announcement. At some point they'll ask you if you're unwell (surely) and you can just start with "it's early days but..." and let the hugging commence Smile

PeppasNanna · 17/01/2016 10:32

I would if it means support & help.

With my last dc i didn't tell my mum til i was 19 weeks!

Congratulations.🎉

I am pregnant with a toddler, my mother lives 2 hours away. If they can help tell them!!!

MoreGilmoreGirls · 17/01/2016 10:33

Oh and congratulations Grin

SerenityReynolds · 17/01/2016 10:34

We told our parents I was pregnant with DD2 at around 7-8 weeks for the same reasons. I felt rough and needed help with DD1. Just ask them not to tell anyone else.

Congratulations! Flowers

foxessocks · 17/01/2016 10:39

Thanks...They actually haven't asked if I'm feeling unwell and I'm not sure if that's because I'm an excellent actress or if they're just too polite to say "you look rough" I know I must look a mess but dh says I look normal but maybe he's also being nice.

Anyway...I was the same announcing I was pregnant with dd. I knew they'd be happy and I was very happy but I still didn't like the actual announcing process. I hate it when the focus is on me!

Im not sute what the benefit of waiting is OP.
You're going to have to tell them and suffer the attention at some point, so why not get it over with and get some extra help if it's needed?

I appreciate you'd like the reassurance of a scan first but you might want their support anyway whatever the result.

LastOneDancing · 17/01/2016 10:46

Oh and congratulations! Flowers

WhoKn0wsWhereTheMistletoes · 17/01/2016 10:46

I'm exactly the same, I hated telling people when we got engaged as I was dreading all the fuss, but sometimes you just have to bite the bullet!

foxessocks · 17/01/2016 10:47

Oh yes he engagement announcement was just as bad. I'm just hopeless!

I'm glad it's not just me!

ICantThinkOfAUsernameH · 17/01/2016 10:52

another vote for tell them :)

foxessocks · 17/01/2016 10:59

Ok I told my dh I was happy for them to know but hate the telling part. So he rang his mum and told her and text my mum and said we were coming round to tell them something p s it's that Foxes is pregnant and she hates announcements.

They haven't bloody replied even though mum was just texting me a second ago!

Mil was really pleased though

Wishful80sMontage · 17/01/2016 11:01

Have you just told your mum in text?

DragonmotherKhaleesi · 17/01/2016 11:02

So he's told her in a text Confused

foxessocks · 17/01/2016 11:04

No dh has basically but he has said we're coming over now to tell you properly!

MrsS182 · 17/01/2016 11:04

Tell them! Honestly it's a huge weight off your mind having some people you don't have to pretend your not pregnant around. I've had some great advice and support from my mum since I told her Smile

foxessocks · 17/01/2016 11:05

Sad what's done is done. I didn't realise that was a huge no no. I don't think my parents are the kind to be in the least bit worried how they are told especially if we're coming over straight away.

OP posts:
foxessocks · 17/01/2016 11:05

But since they haven't replied maybe they are!!

OP posts:
DragonmotherKhaleesi · 17/01/2016 11:06

Oh well. I'm sure she'll be thrilled regardless.
Congratulations Thanks

Goodbetterbest · 17/01/2016 11:07

Seriously? Your DH told his DM to text your DM? How old are you?

Just tell them and let them be happy for you. It's your second, they'll be excited for about 5 seconds and move on to talking about the snow or something.
