What is this? Walking to the chip shop earlier, I felt a little uncomfortable because my baby was sitting low as is normal and then suddenly had really bad shooting pains in my vagina. Almost had to stop walking. They went after about five minutes but what on earth are they?

I've had this a couple of times. I have always attributed it to stretch/growing pains. Few of them, then they stop, didn't go on for 5 mins but I haven't been walking with them. I've never mentioned them to the MW in the past but I'd mention it to her maybe. Hope that's the last of it for you.

How far along are you? I had this between 16-24 weeks. My MW thought it was rlp.

SmileAndNod · 14/01/2016 18:04

I had this with my (footling breech) baby. Very uncomfortable. Maybe mention it to your MW?

WilLiAmHerschel · 14/01/2016 18:06

I had this when I was pregnant too. I have no suggestions but I think it's normal.

I'm 28+4 now. What's rlp? If I get it again I think I'll mention it but I'm assuming/hoping it's just to do with babys position.

RLP- round ligament pain. What you've described is v normal- just another delightful side effect of pregnancy!

I particularly enjoy my baby headbutting my cervix. Not uncomfortable IN THE SLIGHTEST.

Frank85 · 14/01/2016 19:48

I had this at weeks 14 and 15 hurt so bad! But read its pretty common!

Heavenscent86 · 14/01/2016 20:03

Thanks everyone. Sounds like it's pretty normal but just uncomfortable then. Hopefully baby won't enjoy tormenting me too often!

Also heard it referred to as 'stabby vag' 😂

Annoying but normal, doesn't mean anything really.
