What can I take for sinus'?

My face is on fire My eyes, nose and throat are a mess. Is there anything I'm allowed to actually take to help relieve symptoms? I'm 34+4 x

Paracetamol, try a warm wheat bag or hotwater bottle on your face, some people recommend steam

I think you can only take paracetomol, which hardly touches sinus pain, but I always find holding my head over bowls of steaming water helps? Holding a hot flannel to your face too.

I have a neti pot, but it's a bit of a faff, and it's supposed to keep your sinuses nice and flushed rather than ease pain once you've got it.

My sympathies, it's awful!

Saline spray is pretty much the best thing for sinus congestion or sinus infections, pregnancy or not, strangely enough (I have chronic bouts that go on for months and have tried everything). Sterimar is a brand that is easy to buy. Boots and Amazon both sell it.

I sympathise i had this last week :-( you must feel rotten, and all the usual remedies aren't allowed.
Paracetamol, steam regularly (with a couple drops of olbas oil if it helps) and saline nasal spray all helped me. Along with rest and chocolate!
I also drank litres of hot lemon and honey.

Saline nose spray. I used the babies one while I was BF and I've never looked back it's the best thing to help dislodge it all.

Mid wife told me a couple drops of olbas oil every now and then would be fine, so i'm guessing eucalyptus is ok?

If you ask a chemist whether you're allowed olbas, in my experience they'll find an excuse not to sell you it. Personally, I would rather take the miniscule risk (there is no evidence to suggest it's harmful but, because it has not been tested on pregnant women- to do so is unethical- there is no evidence that it is NOT harmful. hence why it doesn't have the green light). I have found that sore sinuses really disrupt my sleep, which to me is more of a health and safety concern than the risk of putting some vicks on a hanky or olbas on the edge of my pillow.
Steaming is pretty good!

Thanks for this thread, I'm 38+5 with awful sinusitis and petrified of going into labour before it starts! Was going to go and cry to my GP if I can get an appointment tomorrow. Anyone know if we can take any stronger painkillers than paracetomol? The face and jaw ache is the worst. I am sure I was given codeine in early labour with DC1!
