Hey guys!

I have been given £100 from my husbands grandad.

He doesn't have a lot of money, and I can't believe he even gave it!

He's not been very well and I want to buy something special! Help what can I buy?! My mind is blank

Thanks ladies!

Something for the baby?

Saphwoodman · 14/01/2016 11:12

Aww! Maybe you could keep it to put it in savings for the baby when it is born. Or just buy something really nice and then let him know his £100 paid for it. Like a nice baby swinging chair and a play matt

What do you have already?

RudeElf · 14/01/2016 11:15
Confused

When my daughter was a bit older I got a teddy bear made out of some of her baby clothes. I used some of my favourite bits and it has her name and date of birth embroidered on the paw. It's really special. It wouldn't use up all of the money but maybe you could put some to one side for something along these lines.

I don't have anything already! I've got some clothes but not a lot else! I want something for the baby yes but doe thing special! The clothes idea is lovely but he wants me to fry something for when the baby is here! Smile

Mother care and John Lewis do imprints, you take the baby and they do them for you then paint them up, glaze and frame. Its one of my most treasured things from my DS who is now 5 and its still up in his room. I'm 21 weeks with DS2 and really hoping someone gets us some vouchers towards this again as it was £70 odd but honestly its so gorgeous! something I will keep forever and I cant thank the lady (strangely one of my MILs friends) enough for getting us the voucher in the first place.

Not on the high street has a personalised child's rocking chair. Also a personalised toy crate. Could something like that be suitable? Of course that still relies on you having a name before you can order!

Maybe a nice photo of him holding the baby in a frame, of photo of the baby on a mug with the words 'best grandad ever' :)

You can do the best thing but with something of his. I will be getting a made with love bear (but an elephant) when my one comes. They are on Facebook.
I was going to do it with baby clothes, something of mine and something of OH. So you could do something with grandads, yours and your OH?

SnozzberryMincePie · 14/01/2016 14:35

Not sure how much they cost but one of those 3d scans?

A family photoshoot once the baby is born?

A really beautiful sling?

What about using it to buy something significant like the cot or car seat. If it is a lot of money to him I suspect he would like it to be used for something 'useful' that you then don't have to buy yourselves.

Artioo2 · 14/01/2016 17:33

He's presumably given it to you because he hopes the money will be useful to get ready for the baby so if I were him I'd be secretly a bit disappointed if you spent it on a keepsake. Useful things can be lovely too - a crib, a rocking chair, a sheepskin?
