I have my first midwife appointment in two hours. I am so nervous! I don't even know why when they mainly just ask you questions and weigh/measure you and do you blood pressure don't they? I want an early scan too for reassurance (ftm and scared nothing is there) anyone had o e of these at their first appointment?
Thanks!

I don't think you will get a scan at your booking in appointment. I've been firmly told that there are no early scans unless your pregnancy is classed as high risk, though I imagine it is area dependant.

How far along are you?

Only 8 weeks. Yes I understand that will probably be the case....and if there isn't any chance of having an early NHS one I may book a private one to make me relax a bit. There is somewhere near me who do ultrasounds for £50 for reassurance purposes

They wouldn't give me an early reassurance scan despite serious medical complications with my last pregnancy, so I think it's unlikely they'll give you one if there's no reason to, I'm afraid. I completely understand the worry that nothing is there, I've struggled with it myself, but I can also understand they can't hand out scan appointments at the drop of a hat when the service is already under so much pressure. £50 seems very reasonable to me for a private one, I'd do that.
