Anything baby related I should buy in the States?

I'm off to NYC at the end of the month when I'll be 12 weeks pregnant. I'm aware I t's way to early for me to be buying things but as I'll be in America is there anything that's a "must buy" that anyone knows of? I.e something I can't get over here or is much cheaper over there?

I have heard maternity clothing is much better in America so maybe stock up?

Aden & Anais is cheaper there & are amazing muslins.
My friend sent me over Old Navy baby clothes & they are really good quality.

Also osh kosh and carters do some lovely clothes at good prices. Enjoy!

The choice of maternity clothes in the US is so much better than here especially jeans. Have a look at Pea In A Pod online before you go. Carters do some nice baby clothes that don't cost the earth. Osh Kosh is also good especially their dungarees/overalls.

Yy to Aden and Anais swaddling muslins. Ours have done two babies and are still used for building dens, as a blanket for trips to the park, baby blankets for dolls etc. I regifted/charity shopped all my baby stuff except these.

Maybe visit Target and Dollar Tree - both cheap stores which will have good stuff in for baby/maternity

Baby clothes! My FIL goes to the states for work quite often, and usually comes back with a heap of gorgeous clothes for DD. I think the shop he likes is called Nordstrom - not cheap (I suspect), but some very lovely things that you can't get here. DD's dresses that are the brand name Tea are particularly nice.

I just got the standard, four pack with the star print. Giant size though for swaddling.

My sister got me some Pea in the Pod maternity clothes while on a overnight trip (cabin crew) and I've lived in it!! Can't wait for her to go back and get me some more!!

They're the ones I loved Penny. Pea in the Pod stuff looks lovely, will have to try some stuff on whilst out there.

Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren etc baby clothes from TJ Maxx or outlets. Lovely quality and very ncie resale prices.

Craters baby clothes are lovely. I order from UK and pay lots on shipping.

A Tula baby carrier

I have standard & they're huge! I have the star ones & they're great to put down as a little blanket/mines using his as a comfort one now.
But don't wash them with fabric softener as they don't stay soft then.
I use faith & white vinegar if you do get them.

I think the Ergo carriers are American as well if you're thinking of a decent carrier.

Definitely hit a Carters outlet! I went over when DD was 4 months and just bought loads of long sleeved bodysuits. Like 3 packs in each size. It's much cheaper. I remember getting leggings for like $2. I brought an extra bag for this stuff and won't runout until she's a year old!
I'm from the west coast of the US but any shops like Kohls are good too.
Dummy clips are more readily available there too.

I'm from the UK and living in the US atm. I actually think the UK has more choice in lots of respect (e.g. things like bedside sleepers) and prices aren't too different, just maybe a bit cheaper here - but I second what everyone says about maternity clothes. I think at home there isn't really much in stores and you have to go online, but I find there to be a lot in stores here. Try Macy's or any department store for Pea in the Pod and Motherhood Maternity, and H&M can also be pretty good, and Kohl's. There are also lots of consignment (second hand) stores for maternity and baby clothes which are pretty good quality, so I would try and seek some of those out. I went to one the other day and got 5 newborn vests for 50 cents! They might be a bit out of town though

Carter's is okay but on quality and price I'm not sure it's any better than supermarket stuff you can get at home - an outlet as pp suggests might be worth it though. I miss places like M&S and Next and have got my mum to ship some special things over! Baby Gap stuff is sooooo cute but not necessarily cheaper or different to what you can get at home.

I agree with pp, the bamboo Aden & Anais muslin blankets are lovely and so soft, but not cheap! I've got a set of three but I know you need lots of muslins for spit ups, and can't really find cheaper alternatives, so again am getting some generic muslins sent over from home! So plan on using the A&A ones for swaddling blankets

Having said all that I'm pregnant and haven't had the baby yet so maybe listen to others more knowledgable than me :)

Oh I got my pram at half the price on Amazon US than what's it's being sold on Amazon UK, it was a special offer but even without the offer it was cheaper

So If you have any big ticket items you know you want, and were able to take them back then it's worth checking Amazon and could get them delivered to your hotel. Delivery takes 10-14 days here though so use a free trial of amazon price to get it there in 2 days!

My Motherhood Maternity jeans are the best maternity jeans I've ever found over the course of 4 pregnancies! I would also agree with Carters, I prefer their stuff to our supermarket stuff actually, narrower vests for little babies and lovely fleecy sleepsuits.

ispy snap - I've lived in my Motherhood Maternity skinny jeans since week 12 (now 30), and like that the choice isn't just generic blue and black.

I did notice that my Carter's vests look particularly small and narrow compared to others actually, so that's a good point - I guess I can't comment on clothes properly until I put my baby in them :)

I was in the US with work when I was 15 weeks and made my first baby purchase there - two sleepsuits from Carters. Seem to remember they had an 'everything half price' offer or something, so worked out good value.

I love the honest company stuff, which you cannot get in the UK no matter how much I hound them on twitter. There supposedly is a kiosk machine in JFK so you can buy at the airport but I have no idea where. You can't buy off their website with a UK credit card but Target sell their products, so if you can get to a target or order online and get them to deliver to your hotel. There is a sneaky way to order from the honest website, go to a supermarket and buy a visa or mastercard gift card. Then register it to a US address, this then gives you a US billing address and you can buy online and get delivered to your hotel. There are often discount codes so check before you place an order.

Honest products I love - prenatal vits, Omega-3 supplement, diaper cream, healing balm and nipple cream. I would love to be able to get hold of their cute diapers here. Target will ship to the UK but charge £40+ shipping for 1 packet of diapers, I'm not joking, it is ridiculous!!!

Also I love pottery barn kids, they will let you use UK credit card over the phone and deliver to your hotel or try and find a store to visit. They also will ship to the UK but the shipping and custom charges are huge!
