Hi all, hope you and bumps are doing ok. Im on pregnancy number 5. (one stillbirth, 2 children, 1 m/c and now this IVF baby)

im 14 weeks and SPD is ridiculous. seen doctor, midwife and even went to a&e it was that bad. im ok on a morning, after sleep (despite crushing hip pain) but get to 4pm and thats it, i cant walk.

What belts can anyone recommend please?

Hey, I got the NexCare one of Amazon. I have terrible Spd, as in can't really walk without crutches (although only got that bad around 33 weeks). When I tried it on it didn't feel like it was tight enough to help but it really does. But would advise you size down. I got the medium and I'm normally a size 14 but have quite wide hips and thighs, and these have only got bigger in pregnancy. It helps enough to allow me to waddle around the house a little. I don't use the over the bump band as it makes me feel nauseous.
Really hope you get some help, it's hellish and 14 weeks is early. Get seen for physio as soon as possible, even if it doesn't help it's useful to be in the system. One encouraging thing, oddly I was worse a few weeks ago then I am now, so it's not all downhill! Good luck

Thank you so much for that kitkats

ive been looking at the NexCare and did wonder how you go about sizing it. Thank you for that. Are they comfy? they dont look it, not of them do, can u sit down in them?

Im on list for physio.

Yours sounds horrendous.

Thank you so much for replying, its a minefield out there with them x

I like the one I got from JoJoMamanBebe. It really helps ease the pain and I can handle walking around town for a few hours when I wear it.

I believe the recommendation is not to wear them all the time, and sitting down might be a good time to take them off. You can sit down in the one I have.

SPD is horrible; hope it doesn't get any worse for you.

The best one is a Serola belt. Generally the ones you get from Mothercare and baby sites aren't very good at all.

I'm in my 20th year of SPD if you want any tips or information, I'll try to help you.

Pricey but I recommend the serola belt because it's good quality and not too bulky. I got a free promedics belt from my nhs physio (it's white and huge but does the job ok) so it might be worth asking your maternity or physio department for a free one.

I got the NeoG belt and it was good.

I got a physio referral at 28 weeks. The physio helped but the best thing ever was hydrotherapy. It was excellent and really eased the pain and allowed me to work on the exercises much more freely as I was in the water.

I would recommend this to anyone suffering. U fortunately I could only have 3 sessions as they stop at 36 weeks. :( would love to do t now (38 weeks). It's back to bloody agony again!

I used serola as well. I felt very secure with it and it was comfy to wear too

Oh and physio was fantastic in realigning me. I asked the doctor at my antinatal app to refer me.

fourlegstwolegs · 13/01/2016 16:50

Another vote for Serola.

NexCare one surprisingly okay to wear. It is softer than it looks. Never tried Serola though might be better! I find I can wear it sitting down for short period, I've taken to wearing in outside of my clothes so I can take it on and off which isn't the most flattering but given I'm the size of a house and none of my clothes fit anymore, feels like small fish! Good luck
