Before labour starts?
I'm having regular period type pain every 10-15 mins apart and lasting about a minute. I haven't lost my plug yet so could this be labour?

I have had two children and never lost an obvious plug before labour started.
Good luck.

Junosmum · 08/01/2016 23:09

I lost mine when I was 4cm dialated!

Illyillyilly · 08/01/2016 23:15

I never did before labour started.

TommyandGina · 08/01/2016 23:17

The hospital removed mine when I was 5cm and they had to break my waters

CointreauVersial · 08/01/2016 23:18

Never saw any of mine, and I have had three labours.

ThreeFrazzledFandangos · 08/01/2016 23:21

Mines came out 24 hours into induction along with my waters

UptownFunk00 · 08/01/2016 23:25

Not always sometimes it comes out during labour like the waters.

Equally sometimes it comes out in little bits over weeks and you don't even notice it.

I'd take it that it's most likely contractions and watch this space. :)

Sorry to digress with a silly question but what happens to it if u have a c-section? Is it still in there? Confused

middlings · 08/01/2016 23:35

Didn't lose it with either DD!

UptownFunk00 · 09/01/2016 00:11

Go I guess it gets sucked up by that vacuum thing they take the amniotic fluid out with? Not sure.

lucymootoo · 09/01/2016 00:13

I didn't notice mines going

Gunting · 09/01/2016 00:15

I got to 9cm at home and didn't see a mucus plug

Runningupthathill82 · 09/01/2016 06:41

Never saw a mucus plug in my previous labour. Good luck!

oneangrydwarf · 09/01/2016 06:45

First labour I lost it as the contractions started, second labour I never saw it. I wouldn't expect it and sounds like you are in labour, good luck!

MrsJK · 09/01/2016 08:15

Any update OP? Smile

Elfishpresley · 09/01/2016 08:37

My waters broke then my contractions were two minutes apart for the following 24 hours, during that time I don't recall losing my mucus plug.

Whoknewitcouldbeso · 09/01/2016 08:40

I never lost my plug before labour, my waters also had to be broken by the midwife when I was labouring.

themumfairy · 09/01/2016 08:59

Thanks for all your replies. They continued until 1am ish and died off Angry I'm hoping they resume today but I've got a feeling baby is playing tricks. I'll keep you updated if they restart. I suppose I could on for days like this. Although this is baby #3 I've never had labour start on its own so it's all new.

I've pottered about the house for a bit and had loose bowels. Not completely diarrhea but seeing as I've been so constipated it's definitely loose. I'm hoping this is another sign and not my body playing more tricks. Sorry for the tmi but who else could I talk about bowels too over breakfast Grin

Mine came out from 22 weeks onwards. Had him at 33 weeks due to ruptured membranes. Any time I called my midwife about mucus plug coming out she just said it was normal and that it grows back anyway
