Hiya,

In the last day or two the underneath of my bump has become incredibly itchy and tender. On further inspection I can see little red spots just in my stretch marks and only on the ones on my bump.

I have been to the gp who said she has never seen anything like it as it seems entirely isolated to stretch marks and has prescribed a very mild steroid cream.

So far I've managed not to scratch and the rash itself appears fairly mild but the itchiness is incessant and is driving me crazy and Google has led me to polymorphic eruption of pregnancy.

Has anyone else experienced this and if so does it sound similar to how yours started out?

Also has anyone experienced a mild case without it spreading all over? (Trying to stay optimistic ha)

I don't normally post on here but I felt I had to as I have just had the most awful outbreak of PEP. It started on week 36 of my pregnancy. It started on my bump and was crazy itchy then it spread to my thighs, back and the back of knees. It kept me up for three nights in a row and is basically torture!

I researched a few ways to calm the itching and I found relief with the following very quickly....

Go to docs they will prescribe you mild antihistamine that you can take every 4-6 hours.

Bath in Epsom salts for at least 20 mins in luke warm water. Used 1 /12 cups of salt.

Cover itchy areas in Derma cream as needed. I got this from Boots and it wasn't expensive.

Any areas that are really bad I use sudocrem.

I have literally been doing the above religiously for just over 24 hours and it is so much better already. Redness has gone down a lot and itching is much more bearable.

Hope this helps someone as this is the most horrible pregnancy symptom!

I had this with DS from about 38 weeks. Speak to your midwife ASAP as they may want to monitor you more closely.

My DS was born overseas so I had different care but was prescribed an anti-histamine and a topical cream. My only relief was in a cool shower. I wore gloves in bed to stop me scratching.

Only cure is delivery and it took a few days for the rash to go. My DS was born on his due date by EMCS as I went on to develop pre-eclampsia. My midwife at my booking visit (I'm 19 weeks with #2) had never seen a case before so I'm hoping I don't get it again!

I had this for 5 weeks, was given antihistamines and I used a variety of creams. So can't vouch for which one works! Completely gone now, but I've attached what it looked like 1 month ago.
