baby measuring large

Help! I am 37+3 and I had a scan today the doctor said my baby is measuring very big, they only told me the adominal circumference which was 380m and wouldn't tell me a weight. I am very worried how big she is going to be

I have 4 dc, the largest being 10lb 6oz it was no more difficult or painful than the others!!!

Do u happen to know the measurements as I am finishing hard as I don't know if it going to be a 8lb or an 11lb as they just said quite big

Sorry I don't but I was told that I was measuring small and it wasn't a big baby...

TBH scans really don't have the much bearing on the outcome of what happens!

With my last baby his head was measuring 6 weeks infront!
And as that is the first thing to come out I was slightly worried.
He did have a larger head but it was fine.

There's a calculator online, where you can put in all the measurments from your scan and it will give you an estimated weight, not sure how accurate it is though x

I'm never sure what is the point of telling someone this. I mean, there's not much you can do about it. All it does is worry women so much

I looked up a chart online and her abdomen is measuring the average size at 43 weeks and I am only 37 weeks, they are sending me for a gtt as I also have fluid of 22 as well. Really worried there is something wrong

Weight is usually completely inaccurate when predicted. It also means v little. There is evidence that heavier babies are in fact easier to birth due to gravity. Head circumference and position have more impact. I had a 6lb baby and a 7lb baby, both horribly stuck and unbirthable. I had an emcs with both. Their positions were the problem.

They have indicated they think you may have gestational diabetes and they'll manage it accordingly if so. Did they have any other concerns about the baby?

I was told that DS was going to be a really big baby, and they were even joking in the delivery suite saying I'm going to need some really big pushes saying he's going to be at least 9lb.....he got stuck and I had to have an episiotomy and forceps to get him out, the midwife was convinced this was because he was massive and said at least 10lb at this point.....he was 6lb 11oz and in tiny baby clothes for the first 6/7 weeks of his life.

I don't believe they can really tell to be honest until baby is actually here. I think it depends on position of baby.

Are you a tall person by any chance? My baby is also measuring mahoosive,
Every time I go for a scan the sonographer panics about his measurements, because he's globally large.

However, I'm 5'11 and my husband is 6'4. My midwife's not bothered, she reckons "we get the children we're meant to have" and that my size means that I have the pelvis to push out a big baby. The consultant thinks the same.

I'm 5ft 4in, my hubby is 6ft. I said to the sonographer she mate has long legs but he said that doesn't explain the very large adomnen. My fluid is also high. It may be that I have gd my test is tomorrow.

My other thought was I am dairy intolerant which causes a very swollen abdomen and I wondered it maybe the baby is as well. Does anyone have experience of this?

My youngest measured off the scale around his abdomen and I had a few scans to check. He was 10lbs 4oz and just big. At age 9 he is still just more of a chunky build compared to my other two. Try not to worry sure all will be fine

I got told all throughout my entire pregnancy that DS was very, very big. I had all the tests for gestational diabetes etc. They induced me at 39 weeks because of it and put the fear of god into me but you know what he was quite big but not outrageously so - 9lb 5 and the birth was fine, had to tug him out a bit with forceps but it was so much better than I thought it was going to be! He was, and still is, a delicious chubby baby.

You will be absolutely fine!
