What did those of you with belly button piercings do when pregnant?

Do I just take it out or are the extended maternity ones OK? I've had it pierced for about a decade, and although I rarely show my tummy off, I'd like to keep it if possible.

I changed to the plastic extendable ones, was in the whole time and no issues.

I kept my metal one in and it was fine. Removed it for the EMCS and never put it back again. I am guessing that now, seven months later, it is too late.

I used the plastic maternity ones from about 6/7 months I think. Put a metal one back in a month or so after birth, no problems. Belly looks a little looser nowadays though!

I took mine out as I noticed there was a mark where my piercing was, maybe from it being stretched. I still have a black mark around my belly button, it's rather ugly and I don't know if it will ever go away.
I read this has even happened with ladies who had had their belly button pierced but had no actual piercing in whilst pregnant.

But It is up you when you want to take it out, maybe if it starts feeling uncomfortable?

Took it out completely but it didn't heal up, just stretched a bit.

I took mine out as the metal one didn't really fit and I don't like the plastic ones (they hurt me for some reason)
I have a stretch mark through where the piercing was and a weird mark which looks like a bruise. I haven't got my belly out for years so it's not really a worry to me.

I took mine out. As I've ended up on the large side of the bump scale I'm glad I didn't bother with a plastic retainer as I imagine it'd wouldn't have looked or felt nice! I don't think it has healed mind you, so it will probably be usable afterwards

I got a really long maternity one. Put my normal one back in probably about a month or so after birth. It looks exactly the same as before but now the bit of skin that goes over the bar (between to two holes) has a stretch mark on, it's not really obvious but I know it's there.

Took it out, and had no issues at all putting it back in when DS was around a year old. If you've had it pierced that long I can't imagine it would heal up. I'd had mine done for around 15 years, and it just went straight back in after 18 months out, with no trouble.

Left it in until dh became convinced it was going to ping out and embed itself in his head.

Put it back in after.
