Has anyone had/got issues with the placenta? Doppler scans?

I'm being monitored very regularly as it was discovered at 28 weeks as my baby is smaller than average. My other three have been small too but my placenta has already started to mature and Doppler levels raise (there's resistance in the cord).

The highest PI reading I've had was 1.7. This is off the charts and has happened twice. My last scan on December 30th showed the amniotic fluid has gone right down too. I was given steroid shots just before Christmas.

I've got another scan tomorrow and Wednesday but just wondering if anyone else has been through this? What happened? How early did they deliver you? Gutted I won't be getting my home birth :(

I bet you weren't! Your baby will have an excellent chance at 33 weeks.

Last March I came downstairs from having a shower and DH casually said his sister had "had the baby". I was like what?! She's only 33 and a half weeks!! Him, being a man, had completely forgotten she was nowhere near her due date.

But that baby was and is fine. Granted she had GD and her baby was 6lb 6oz (!!) But development wise he's fab x

Hi Beautiful, I had this with my first -everyone worried as I was very small for dates. Had fortnightly then weekly scans to check baby's growth, AF levels and placental blood flow - baby was small but growing, AF was borderline low and blood flows were up and down like yours. Can't remember details, he's 15 now Smile. Made for a very stressful pregnancy. We limped along to 38 weeks before induction tho and he was fine - 5lb. Had some feeding, sucking and weigh-gaining issues after birth too, but nothing too bad. He's just been a difficult kid all his life tbh! Good luck, hope things settle down for you.

I had this issue too. There was slightly high resistance at 20 weeks so I was rescanned at 28 weeks. The resistance problem was still there and the baby's size had dropped through the centile said so I then had very close monitoring. The fluid levels were always fine. I managed to limp along through a very stressful few weeks until st 33 and a half weeks they said they wanted to deliver as soon as an incubator was available. She was delivered at 34 weeks exactly weighing 3lb6. Instead of my planned home water birth I got a section with a full paed team in theatre...

She was in hospital for just over 3 weeks. She just needed to grow (and a couple of hospital acquired infections slowed this down - Grrr). She's coming up to 18 months now and petite but otherwise seems fine. She looks likely to be left handed, which is a known effect of a lot of ultrasounds.
