I expect this has been done before and I should know better but I am tired.

What was your best baby buy?

Mine was a sling with dc2. I had one for dc1 but they weren't so trendy then.

Dc3 is on its way and thinking about what we need as opposed to what we would like. What would you suggest?

Very little.

I assume with two already you have preferences already also.

Basically :
Feeding - boobs or bottles.
Sleep - co sleep or cot or Moses basket
Clothes - baby grows and vest
Transport - car seat, sling or pram.

Can be less according to choices so someone who breastfed, co slept, and has no car will need less than someone who uses bottles, a cot and drives so needs car seat

I haven't had baby yet but the thing I'm excited about getting the baby to use will be the toddle pod (www.poddlepod.com/the-poddle-shop-31-c.asp )
Bought this so I can chuck in the car when going to friends houses with no babies so my one can have a comfortable snooze if needs be. Will be good when I go spend the day with my mum or nan.

This was a want purchase rather than a need purchase

Well it was loud, plasticky and relatively expensive but I found a jumperoo worth its weight in gold from about 5-10 months.

On a more gentle, natural note earlier on- sling all the way, and floaty scarves for me so I could BF wherever necessary.

Co-sleeper sidecar cot. Best thing ever!! It was the best of both worlds - space for me to move in my bed but easy reach to feed ds.

Another vote for the bedside cot, and a soft unstructured sling (better jigglability for newborn soothing than the Bjorn etc). Watching thread with interest as I've got dc2 on the way and have forgotten all about newborns

I've also bought a poddlepod sepa! My friend has one for her baby and he looked so cute and cosy sleeping in it that it was one of the first things I went out to buy. Also more a 'want' purchase than anything haha

Ah yes plan to breastfeed and co sleep again.

And jumperoo- I forgot about those. You can get them for a good price second hand too!

Dc2 was in a sling all the time. But I have hurt my back badly so need to think about a pushchair.

I recommend looking at the 'sleepyhead' rather than 'poddlepod' if you like the idea as only the 'sleepyhead' is certified for overnight sleeping, the others aren't. The sleepyhead is nice for co sleeping, but can be used on floor in day/ travelling

I've bought a sleepyhead this time around. Heard very good things.

Sleepyhead and a rocking crib for it to go in was our best purchase. So much so that we've now bought the sleepyhead grande.

We've gone for a sleepyhead for our DC2, due in March, I'm hoping it will help him feel more secure to nap on his own.

I have also got my stretchy wrap from DC1 so expect I will be using that a lot.

We will be bottle feeding so have also got a perfect prep machine waiting in the wings - although this was more of a want item than a need.

We used a bouncy recliner baby seat from birth. I used to move it around the house to keep the baby with me whilst I did jobs. The vibrate function was helpful for napping and the musical mobile kept them entertained.
