Buying for baby in the sales

Hi ladies. I'm 19 weeks pregnant and beginning to think about buying for our baby due 22nd may. (Our first). I did originally want to hold off a few more weeks but I reckon it's worth starting now to get some good bargains in the sale. What are you planning on buying and will shopping in the sales much difference? I also need some maternity clothes too!

Ohh this is such a good idea! I suppose you should be buying stuff for babys 1st xmas and maybe the year after? wintery things for the right age. :) I'm gonna do this!

I wont be pregnant next Christmas (I don't think...) but I saw M and S had nice maternity things online

but its still not cheap

Personally i would avoid buying things like clothes as they are not v expensive and you will end up buying more

But get very neutral /bog standard things that you will always use

Plain vests
Nursery bedding
Etc

Bedding would be a good idea. Perhaps a Moses basket and baby monitor if you're planning on using them.
Clothes, probably not so much. You'll get bought loads of "outfits" and the basics are barely cheaper in the sales (aside from Christmas-themed babygros, which you could buy for next year I guess).

Hold off on buying loads of maternity clothes until you need them and you know what size you'll be. The Asos outlet is great for cheap stuff all year round. I say this as the stuff that fit me at 20 weeks went nowhere near me at 30 weeks, and now at 36 weeks I barely fit in anything. At 20 weeks I was still living in hope that my size 10 mat jeans would see me through til the end

Car seat. Kicking myself for not taking advantage of the £35 quid off offer in Mothercare a few weeks ago that would have also enabled me to get £20 off (voucher). Dammit.

I wouldn't buy anything Christmas themed as everything in 3 month sizes for first year so no possibly way of knowing what size might fit next December and what'll be a waste on money! Might be worth getting big ticket items in sale though (pram, nursery furniture, car seat etc)

18+4 today and just bought my pram bottles and lots of clothes! It's my second so kind of know what to expect size wise....didn't buy any Christmas stuff as there's a chance he could be between sizes then. We had a private scan on Tuesday so we know who we were buying for. So far saved around £350 but I do love a good bargain anyway!

I'm nearly 14 weeks would it be foolish to have a look in the sales for some of the bigger things we need? Or am I tempting fate. Want to be able save money where I can. What do you think?

I would look for pushchairs in the sales, I got mine at a steal on black Friday. Big things rather than small items!

I was 16wks pregnant at this time two years ago and used the sales to buy a lot of the big stuff, kit (pump, bottles, muslins etc), and a few naice bits of clothing. If you do see clothes you like you can often adapt it if you are a bit out with the size of the baby and season eg putting a long sleeved vest under a T shirt.
This time around I need very little as I've kept everything and most of DDs things are pretty non gender specific (don't know what we're having). The bits that aren't will be fine too, unless the baby comes out with fluent English and can voice their unhappiness at the odd pink grow I've saved my sales shopping budget to buy a good portion of DD's wardrobe for the year ahead.

I'm just back from a spot of sales shopping and I came home rather in distress!! Aside from it being mega busy and me nearly losing it with the poor woman in mothercare, it was only when I was walking round looking at car seats and breast pumps and baby monitors, I had the realisation I have no clue what the hell I'm doing!
Nearly came home in tears! (After battling my way out of the car park of course!)

Oh dear sock perhaps do some online research before you head out again as to what matches your needs. I found the MN review section very helpful.
It'll probably be easier cheaper to buy online too.
