possible pregnancy with copper coil

Had my copper coil put in after my DD was born in 2013 however I'm now 6 days late for my period and have been feeling nauseous and got sore books and felt very emotional yesterday. Did have 2 days of period type pains but nothing came of it. Has anyone else got pregnant with the copper coil? I know contraception isn't 100% but I had it put in because we didn't want another baby. Not sure I want or could afford another baby at the moment

Hiya, it's not too much information at all, you're fine. Smile

How are you feeling about things today? How do you feel about being pregnant? Sleep does wonders for clearing the mind. Are you any further forwards regarding your feelings of being pregnant?

The scan tomorrow will tell you more but nothing is insurmountable, whether you decide to continue with the pregnancy or if you decide that a baby isn't the right thing to happen right now.

I've continued with a pregnancy where I've thought 'how the hell can we do this? How the hell can we cope?', and if you decide that continuing with the pregnancy is the right way for you then the Mumsnet coven will hold your hand every step of the way. Equally, if you decide you can't continue with pregnancy you will find many hands to hold, but unfortunately I can offer anything other than moral support as I've never had termination and I don't know what happens. Better people than me can guide you through that.

How are you feeling?

Jenjen85 · 30/12/2015 19:06

I'm still not sure if I'm honest. The first 17wks of my first pregnancy with my DD were awful with sickness so dreading that if it happens again. Bet then I'm also thinking about long term things. My best friend is currently pregnant too and would be lovely to be on mat leave together and she's in a similar situation to us but I can't just think of that. Me and my OH haven't spoken about it really so I don't know what he's thinking. I think we're both just waiting for tomorrow. I don't "feel" pregnant other than awful mood swings, sore books and bloating Shock but now Iv starter spotting I'm worried about miss carrying too

This might be an odd thing to ask but with this being Christmas and the season of goodwill and drinking and food excess, have you had an alcoholic drink or eaten 'forbidden' foods since you realised you were pregnant?

Jenjen85 · 30/12/2015 19:21

I had a drink Christmas day and a couple the week before only one glass each time but nothing since I took a pregnancy test

OP posts:
Boogers · 30/12/2015 19:29

Is that because you knew you were pregnant or just because you didn't fancy it?

Jenjen85 · 30/12/2015 19:41

I didn't know I was pregnant Christmas day found out boxing day but just didn't fancy it plus I'm not a massive drinker either

OP posts:
Boogers · 30/12/2015 19:47

That was a thought as to how you might be feeling, that if you'd purposely not drank alcohol since finding out you were pregnant that might be a gut instinct as to how you were feeling, but it seems that's a moot point.

Is your DP going with you to the scan?

Jenjen85 · 30/12/2015 19:56

Well I got a lovely gin set for Christmas that's still in the box lol yes he's coming with me tomorrow but we have to take our DD with us as not told anyone what's happened

OP posts:
Boogers · 30/12/2015 21:07

Smile to the gin set!

Just carry on as you are doing. From what I've gauged you wouldn't mind another baby but the timing couldn't be worse. Give it a few years, when you, DP and DD are more settled then this decision would be a bit easier, but as it is at the minute you're floundering a bit, wondering how you can support a new baby, in terms of financially, spacially (you're in a 2 bed house, where's baby going to sleep?), emotionally, everything-ally!! If your heart is set on having another baby then my heartfelt advice is that it's not the end of the world that it's happened now, and you will find a way! But if your gut says 'not right now' then that, too, is do-able. Just remember, nothing is insurmountable.

Cuppachaplz · 30/12/2015 21:12

How old is Dd?
Can't you invent a reason she can't go to?

'Recurrent thrush, chemist won't prescribe, doc wants swabs, I hate internals so need dp there, etc...'
(Blood in poo necessitating internal another good excuse, as 99% are nothing to worry about)

I had a similar 'how to lose DS'
debate when I hit my scan through.
Very glad I did as I was clearly in total denial, yelling at her to check again, with a few 'are you sure' thrown in for good measure!
I still have zero symptoms at 24w, and had hyperemesis last time so fx you have a better pregnancy xx

Jenjen85 · 30/12/2015 21:24

Boogers you have hit the nail on the head I think Smile I do want another at some point but it really isn't the best time but then again when is. I might see the scan tomorrow and make my mind up instantly but as of yet my mind is split both ways I think.

My DD is 2 and as we haven't told anyone we cant just drop her off with anyone without them asking questions especially as the scan is at 9.20am. I'm sure she will be fine as she's a very well behaved 2yr old.

Boogers · 30/12/2015 21:24

I'd agree with Cuppa - is there any way you can get your DD looked after for the appointment? If there is, between you and the Mumsnet coven we can come up with a convincing reason why you need to go to a doctors appointment without your DF! Smile

Boogers · 30/12/2015 21:25

That should be DD! Sorry!

Boogers · 30/12/2015 21:50

If she's 2 she won't be aware of anything other than going into a room where the lights are low and someone doing something to mummy's tummy. You'll be fine!

And you're right about how you'll feel when you see what's on screen.

Just remember, whatever you decide, nothing is insurmountable. Whether you decide to continue with your pregnancy or if you decide termination is right for you at this point in time, honestly, you will survive whatever happens!

Jenjen85 · 30/12/2015 21:52

No my mum and dad don't live close enough and DH parents will ask questions (well MIL would) plus wouldn't want to face them after the scan if bad news

OP posts:
Jenjen85 · 30/12/2015 21:53

Thank you Boogers Smile

OP posts:
Boogers · 30/12/2015 22:04

Thing is, what is bad news?

Boogers · 30/12/2015 22:08

And you're very welcome! I've been there, I know the emotions, but I also know what was right for me isn't right for everyone. Anytime you need a metaphorical hug or hand to hold I'm here! Smile

Jenjen85 · 30/12/2015 22:11

Bad news as it's eptopic. It's very much appreciated Boogers Smile

OP posts:
Boogers · 30/12/2015 22:35

How do you know it's ectopic without a scan? Are you ok?

Jenjen85 · 30/12/2015 22:43

I don't know it is but that's what the bad news might be

OP posts:
Boogers · 30/12/2015 22:56

How would you feel if it was ectopic? You mentioned spotting; how would you feel if you miscarried?

Jenjen85 · 30/12/2015 23:01

If it's eptopic it takes away us having to make a decision I know that's an awful thing to think thi. I'm not sure how I'd feel I think maybe guilty. Spotting has eased off a bit wondered if it's cos the Dr had a poke about yesterday

OP posts:
Boogers · 30/12/2015 23:06

I spotted after the consultant removed my coil. Nothing to worry about.

Boogers · 30/12/2015 23:12

I don't know how that surgery works but I thought if they removed an ectopic pregnancy they remove a fallopian tube. I'd be pretty devastated if they did that! How do you feel about that?
