I'm just sat in the bath contemplating life and everything that's going to happen next year... All being well!

But starting to get a bit stressed :-(

Bit of back story... we moved areas about a year ago for work and everything has been great! New job and house have worked out fab and me and the hub are quite proud of what we have achieved. The 'problem' is that our social scene has not developed and I regularly travel for a hour to see my friends and old work mates. Now looking at a 10 month stretch with a baby... And no friends?! I'm honestly scared and starting to feel lonely. I'm a teacher and the 6 week holidays this year were looonng so have kinda already felt the prang of lonely :-( not that I would give the 6 week holidays up for anything though!!

I'm considering the nct course just to make friends... Or would that just be silly money to spend?!

Thanks everyone... I'm still feeling quite worried about it all but plan to chat to the hubs about the cost of the nct. I'm not really 'groups' person but I think I'm gonna have to throw myself into it a bit!

I'm in same situation too. We moved 2 hours away a year and a half ago and outside of work and one old school friend, I've not managed to develop much of a social circle either.

I'll be doing the classes at the hospital closer to the birth but also when baby comes, I'd be straight into clubs like Aqua babies, story time at the library... Anything the nipper will be old enough for! Hoping that way I can meet more people and have a wee network around me.

All new mums on mat leave near you will be in the same boat! Get chatting. Good luck.

Maybe just try and see the groups as a means to an end? Just a method to make friends. Hopefully you might find one or two you enjoy as well as a bonus.
