Bra advice

Hi all, I'm looking for some advice on buying bras for ever growing boobs! At about 10 weeks I bought a couple of bras two sizes up from my normal size and now at 20 weeks the cup size on those is becoming a bit small. I'm not sure how much bigger to buy the next bras, as I can't really afford to keep replacing them. What did you all do? I suspect this is one of those things that is different for everyone! Also, what's the advantage of maternity bras over normal bras, are they just comfier?

I really liked the bodysilk seamless nursing bras for pregnancy - they are stretchy enough to grow with you and as they have drop-cups mine were also great for the first few months of breastfeeding until my size settled down. I think non-nursing maternity bras in general are just not wired, there's not much different between a non-wired normal bra and a maternity bra.

Crop top style bras are great as there is more room for growth and you can wear them more comfortably in bed. Not very flattering admittedly!

I just bought one black and one white t shirt from primark (£3 each) in the cup sizes I needed, for the few weeks you're in them the quality isn't particularly important. I'll save my money for a decent nursing bra once baba is here. I went up 3 cup sizes before 20 weeks but have gone back down 1 about 6 weeks ago!

I also bought primark maternity bras throughout. I would recommend getting measured though, the right size is important for support. The bigger you get the more umcomfortable they can become.

I've tried on loads of different sized bras and none are the right fit, I think my band width has gone up to 36! Where is best to get measured when you're pregnant does anyone know?

Your ribs tend to be wider even after the baby is born so I'd keep it cheap and soft

Can totally recommend Bravissimo for fitting. M&S has a terrible reputation on mumsnet so avoid.

Jml Belvia bras are about £20 ish for 3 I think. Not the sexiest but they're really comfy!

If the cup size is ok and it is just the band which is too small you could try bra extenders. They are those little things which are like an extra stretch of hooks and eyes and you just add them onto your bra fastening. I got a good few extra months out of my upsized pregnancy bras by doing this.

And another vote for Bravado seamless bras. I have just bought the yoga one and I love it. It's nice and soft so it doesn't dig in, it's still supportive and the sizing allows room for growth. Plus it's a nursing bra so I'm hoping to get some good use out of it.

My cup size has also changed, I have no clue what size I am and I've tried on nearly bra size! Thanks for the advice (sorry for hijack op), there's no Bravissimo near me unfortunately

My I add that Mothercare were also awful at bra fitting but I've heard good things about Bravissimo (and if they were anything like they were pre-pregnancy then I would also recommend them!)

John Lewis tend to be pretty good.

If you have a larger cup size please avoid mothercare as they are such an awful fit and shape. Out of desperation I bought some sport type crop top style bras from Tesco. They do S M L etc. I'm normally a 32 f when not pregnant. Initially I bought them for night but they are actually better, in terms of comfort and shape than any other maternity bra I have found. They do give you a bit of a mono-boob, but more uplift than the maternity ones. I bought them at about 16 weeks and I am now 33 and wearing the same ones.

Bravissimo superb fitting . I'm a bigger chested girl and elastic doesn't do it for support . The fitter said you can wear wired right through so long as it's well measured!
