Gig at 8 months pregnant?

I've got tickets for the stone roses in June which I bought before I found out I was pregnant.

Would I be insane to go at 8 months pregnant? I know I would've been okay in my last pregnancy as long as I could swap our standing seats for sitting.

I went to see Texas at 8 months preg with dd I think as long as u swap standing for seating u will be fine x

Definitely swap for seating especially at stone roses when I went to see them people were abit wild when standing!

I've got quite a few gigs booked for June/July which I'm going to sell the tickets for but determined not to miss the stone roses! Definitely need to be seated though! I'm sure finding someone to swap won't be a problem!

I was desperate to cram loads in before I gave birth and to me I was just normal plus a huge bump so just carried on.

My only fear later on was queuing for a toilet/ we always sat near an exit and I sussed out the quickest route to wee.

I went to a Jules Holland show when I was 8 months pregnant and spent the whole time with my coat wrapped around my stomach worried since it was so loud. Clearly DS1 was fine!

I saw a very heavily pregnant celeb standing right next to the speaker at a gig once. She gave birth only about a week later. It was so loud that we had to move and we were not nearly as close as she was. That baby must have wondered what on earth was going on.

I don't think there is any evidence that says you SHOULDN'T go (my baby spent most of her time in the womb next to an industrial folding machine - LOUD as anything) but the sound is so muffled. You may find your baby falls asleep easily to loud music after she's born as a result.

The main issue with a gig would be whether or not YOU are feeling up to it; at 8 months pregnant I barely had energy to leave the house! Take everyone's advice and go for seating, ideally near bathrooms if at all possible and PLEASE remember to take lots of water to keep hydrated. Be very careful that someone keeps other gig-goers from bumping into your or the bump also. And enjoy!

It totally depends on the pregnancy. I went to see Bruce Springsteen when I was 7 months with my first and it was amazing (obviously ).

I was in hospital at 8 months with my second and could just about manage a shower. Just have to wait and see.

Are you just 8 months or 8 turning 9 months? I'm sure you'll be fine but plan an escape route / toilet and drink stops. I went to a gig when I was 8 and a half months and to be honest everyone gave me a wide berth (no pun intended) as I think they're all scared in case you go into labour! or you could blag it and see if you can get in the disabled bit, you'll get a great view

I went to a Frank Turner gig last month (although only six months at the time). The only thing I would advise you to consider is the venue itself. Noise wasn't something I was particularly fussed about (babies tend to be quite hardy in the womb), but I did end up almost passing out once due to the heat in there (it was held in a small basement venue and as far as I'm concerned - was far too busy to be safe even if I wasn't pregnant). Take water or place yourself close to the bar, be within reasonable distance of exits.

I'd definitely go. It's the Stone Roses, so it's not like you're going to get too shoved about, especially towards the back.
A big gig like that I'd attend without a second thought - Fucked Up at a students' union, probably not!

Go, but ask a steward on the way in if they can help you suss the best place to be. You never know, they might let you in the vip or disabled bit if not too busy so you can have some space. I'm attempting a football match at 38+3!

I went to a Hyde park gig at 32 weeks (Arcade Fire). I'd been told that day they needed to get the baby out ASAP as she wasn't growing properly, so I figured I might as well enjoy myself while I had the chance. We stayed away from the crush in front of the stage and it was fine - great actually! She was delivered at 34 weeks so I can't tell you how I would have felt beyond that but I was just getting to the point where my breathing felt impeded and the heat was really pissing me off (very hot July).

The only concerns I would have would be getting too hot, and standing up - if you can get seating, keep hydrated, and suss out a way to get some fresh air once you're there, should be fine. (Completely different to a gig, but I'm off to the west end next week to see Cats at 33 weeks, and think it'll be fine. I'm hoping the big belly might earn me some sympathy in the interval loo queuing!) Definitely make the most of your situation - see if you can talk to someone on your way in about whether you can have access to the disabled bit so as to make sure you're not crowded in and overheating.

I've only once struggled to do something so far in this pregnancy, and it was when I was expected to stand for 90 minutes in a warm, crowded place not long after my lunchtime walk, and having just eaten - definitely felt woozy then, so I escaped after 30 minutes.

I'm planning to go to a couple of football matches in February at 8 months along - it's just Arsenal though which is around 2km from home and 3km from my hospital, and all-seater of course. Really depends on how you feel at that stage though - I've not had too many issues so far but anything can happen by then.

I went to Faithless at 32 weeks but I was seated. No way could I have done standing. So glad I went though as was trying to do stuff before little one arrives

Thanks for your of your responses. Fingers crossed my pregnancy is similar to DC1 and I will be able to go! I've wanted to see the stone roses for years!

You will have no problem getting someone to swap with you if you need a seat I will swap with you if you are in Manchester if you can't go you will make a killing on your ticket

My mum went to loads of gigs when she was pregnant with me...she saw The Kinks two weeks before I was born, my DGM was less than impressed!!

I've been to a couple of gigs and to a couple of shows - just take water, a handheld fan and speak to the stewards.

I went to see Robbie Williams 11 days before dc1 was born. Only problem was being about 5 rows from the very top of the Cardif Millenium Stadium. That's a lot of steps

In a lovely kind of symmetry, dc1's first gig was Take That (with Robbie) in 2011 (?) and dc2's was Robbie in 2013 (and also my Mum's first stadium gig - her 70th birthday present!) 😄

I'm going to Norwich Southampton at 36 weeks I assume it'll be fine, I've had no issues at all throughout this pregnancy.
It's a big game, baby supports the winner!
