Has she put that. Their record is normally of palpable.

4/5 engaged means 4/5 of the head is slotted down in your pelvis.

4/5 palpable means 1/5 is (which is common )

on my notes it's got 4/5 eng. see I thought it meant 1/5 of the head down but she also said she can just about feel the head.

I'd ask her at your next appointment. In my notes, the midwife wrote 5/5 eng yesterday, but I confirmed what she meant was that she could feel the whole head and none of it was in the pelvis yet.

It tells you in your Pregnancy notes on Page 16. 4/5 means baby is sitting on the Pelvic brim. Smile

Everyone's pregnancy notes are different newlywed

Newlywed123 · 17/12/2015 15:33

That's probably why everyone gets so confused

tinyme135 · 17/12/2015 16:07

see I thought it meant LO is starting his decent but then when I Googled it, it said LO is almost there. to be honest don't take much to confuse me

It doesn't really mean anything about how imminent labour is, especially with first babies. It just means he/she is getting in to position. Probably, you can breathe a little easier but feel like you are waddling round a grapefruit Smile

Sameshitdiffname · 17/12/2015 16:25

4/5 means they can still feel 'four fifths' of the head.

As moaning said though it doesn't mean much really just that they're heading in the right direction

UptownFunk00 · 17/12/2015 23:42

Like PP has posted it doesn't mean how soon LO is going to come. Wednesday I was 1/5 engaged so basically the baby was all the way down and I'm only 32 weeks. It just means I need to wee an awful lot and get nice sharp cervix-y pains.

They do move in and out a lot though especially when a 2nd, 3rd etc pregnancy.

tinyme135 · 18/12/2015 00:06

Oh I see. this is my first so all of it is new to me. I didn't think to ask the MW and all she said to me was she can just about feel his head.
