Lemonfizzypop my sister was measuring bang on 50th centile both pregnancies - her first baby was just under 10lb and her second was just under 6lb! She took newborn stuff only 2nd time around and her partner had to rush out to buy tiny baby as everything was massive on him

Iammad · 13/12/2015 12:44

I just bought big cheap black primark knickers, and threw them away after lol kcat.

Of course, underwear and toiletries. Can't believe I forget about them Xmas Blush

Pack of waist high pants in case you have a c-section. I didn't expect to need mine but still wearing them 4 years later...

I've just packed my bag;
Nightwear x2
Nursing bra
Underwear x4
Pack of maternity and breast pads
Wash bag
Orange juice (I dehydrate quickly)
Babies first teddy
Pack of newborn vests
Babies first outfit
2 spare baby grows (1 boy 1 girl having a suprise)
Spare cardy and thing coat
A hat
Small pack of pampers
Cotton wool lotion
A spare top, boxers and spray for my husband (hospital rooms can get warm)

I just need to pack some lip balm, hand sanitizer and hand moisturiser.. And ofcourse food for when I'm peckish!

I think your list is near enough bang on. It depends whether you plan on staying over night. I had my LG at 2.19 and was Home by 7. If something goes wrong I'm sure someone can do a run home for more if needed Smile

Just marking as i need to sort my own hospital bag out. Great to have all this input. And will now pay attention to towels on midwife unit walk around!

Quodlibet · 13/12/2015 19:42

Drinking straws
Hand fan
Misting spray for labour.
Clary sage oil

EasterRobin · 13/12/2015 19:52

Best thing I packed that you've not mentioned were big sports water bottles, toothbrush etc, phone charger and travel sickness bags. I wish I'd taken (or owned) an extra nightie as i couldn't easily wear the trousers I'd taken as a change of clothing.

WiIdfire · 13/12/2015 20:14

You need two bags. One for things in labour and a short stay of 24 hours, then a second bag that stays in the car (or at home) with lots more clothes, a whole pack of nappies, more clothes for you, etc, for when they tell you you will be staying in a week. You dont want to send your husband home for more pants only for him to bring in your thongs, now, do you?

ImperialBlether · 14/12/2015 19:26

Vichy Thermal Water Spray is the best thing in the world for when you're in labour. Keep it in the fridge before you go to hospital.

Def more than too muslins.
Cotton wool to clean the baby with eg. For their face. I wouldn't use shop bought wipes straight away on a new born, just damp cotton wool.
