Hey I'm due to give birth tomorrow.. Not that anythings clock work but Iv got a final sizing scan and a possible sweep if baby is estimated to be a big babba like my last one. If the sweep doesn't work or I don't go into labour by the weekend they will induce me..

I'm terrified anyway but not been induced before..

What should I expect? Procedure, time, what il have to do, pain ect.. Does it hurt more than going into labour naturally?

Worried.. Confused xx

I haven't gone into labour naturally, I was induced then had EMCS (related to mild placenta praevia, not because of the induction!).

There was a fair bit of waiting around when I first arrived at the hospital. They'll check to see if you're dilated at all and how your cervix feels. I was started off with a pessary to soften my cervix then a few hours later they pulled my cervix (down I think? Can't remember now) and did a sweep at the same time. A few hours again and that had done nothing so I was given some stuff in a drip which started contractions - that seemed to work fairly well as my contractions were 2 mins apart and reading as being quite strong on the machine they use. I didn't find it painful at all, discomfort is a better word to describe it for me.

Despite all that, from first being induced to needing the EMCS was 36 hours and I never managed to get more than 2cm dilated.

However, that's all just my experience. Many people that I know have been induced and given birth just a few hours after its started so I was pretty unlucky really.

Good luck with it all, I'm sure you'll be fine.

She pulled my cervix forward today to give me the sweep.. Confused was quite uncomfortable almost painful but it was over before I knew it..

My induction date is 10 days time if I don't go into labour before hand so fingers crossed.

Thanks for the heads up and preparation.

Xx
