5 weeks pregnant and light bleeding.

Feeling a little bit heartbroken right now. Been to the toilet and noticed light bleeding when I wiped. Never had a miscarriage before so feels very strange :( after 3 pregnancy tests (positive) my partner still continued to tell me I didn't know whether I was pregnant so just keeps telling me it's just a period. No one else knew so just have to sit here feeling gutted on my own :( is this probably a miscarriage??

Hello. I had light bleeding when I was 5 weeks and it was fine. It lasted a couple of hours but was very light. I was upset and would have gone to be checked if it had continued but it didn't and by the following day had stopped completely and 4 weeks later I am definitely still pregnant!

Is your partner trying to help you with that attitude? It seems strange to deny you're pregnant after positive tests! Does he know they don't give false positive results?

It depends. If you continue to bleed and it gets heavier, like a period, then yes it could be. However, I had some light bleeding early on in my last pregnancy from implantation, and it was fine. I have also had some light bleeding in this current pregnancy, and a scan showed itvwas fine again. Some bleeding in early pregnancy is very very common.
I would monitor it and ssee if it gets heavier. You could also ring your local EPU and try to arrange an early scan. You can usually see something on ultrasound from about 5-6 weeks. Fingers crossed it's all ok.

At the moment there is nothing. But I've read it can come and go. How would I find out about a local EPU?

Go online and look it up - eg. if you lived in Birmingham, look up Birmingham early pregnancy unit. You could also look up early preg units in the uk and see which one is near you.
