Before i became a preggo i was nine stone, which was fine as im five feet five.

I was told that during my pregnancy i should put on betweem one & half-two stone.

Im now just over eleven stone, with three months left to go.

So im over weight?

Or will i be?

Worried

nah, dont worry! i was 8st 11lb before i had ds1-i weighed 12st 6lb day before birth!

had another ds since and am now 9st exactly.

Think that it is an indicative amount of weight to put on and not a point to worry about.

Eat well, walk moderately and just enjoy yourself-worry about the tum later!

I put on 2 stone with ds and 3 stone each time with dds - I'm now just as slim as before (although a bit saggier!) but I did try hard after the first 8 weeks. You'll be fine and for what it's worth I don't know of many people who only put on 1 1/2 to 2 stone.

I wouldn't worry Zen. I am 5 7" and weighed 9 stone 3 before getting pregnant. I am now 12 stone 5. Apparently the average weight gain is 2 and a half stone but everyone woman is different.

It'll be fine

weight gain does slow down in the last trimester anyway. You are certainly not overwight and surely there are variations in weight gain due to amount of fluid, blood, baby's weight etc. Enjoy the pregnancy and worry about your weight afterwards.

lulumama · 12/12/2006 11:30

a lot of the weight you put on is not actually fat

extra blood , fluid, your breasts increase in size , the uterus, baby , placenta & amnitotic fluid all contribute and your body does lay down some extra fat, but that is normal.....

you need approx 200 extra calories per day in later pregnancy, a couple of slices of brown bread.....

eat a good balanced diet, plenty of fluids, and if you can, a swim or a walk ,

don;t worry too much, you are growing another person, so you need to gain some weight..

sounds well within the range of expected weight gain xx

gained 30kilos whilst preg! - lost lots from the birth & in the first weeks. Lost the rest by bf -have nevered dieted.

I was also 9 stones pre-pg and was about 13 stones when baby was due!. I expected to lose a lot after the birth so didn't worry too much, thinking it was baby, fluid etc, but only lost a stone straightaway which was a bit depressing.

But after about 6 months I was back down to just over 10 stones, but haven't been able to get back to 9 stones, which would require a lot of aerobic exercise.

I guess it all depends if you have been eating sensibly, following the "pregnancy diet" and doing moderate exercise. A lot of my weight gain was due to eating cake and pizza, so wasn't that surprising!
