Joe1, Tetley, Ouch and the other October Mums to be, how are you all?

Joe1 - well done on winning the baby carrier!!

Tetley · 16/09/2002 14:54

I feel like that about the eating too, Enid. I had a crap night's sleep last night - lying there, willing myself not to be sick - finally gave up at 2am, & puked - but didn't feel any better for it - so still couldn't sleep

I'm so wanting my due date to come around - less than 4 weeks to go now. I went into labour on my due date first time around too, Joe1 - so was wondering how lucky I'll be to do the same again - I really hope this baby isn't late, as I don't think I'll be very good at sitting around & waiting.

Did a trip to Mothercare this morning to get breast pads, knickers etc. Also happened to go into Gap too & had a browse around their sale! Got ds a lovely gilet - which I'd admired a couple of weeks ago when it was full price (£24 - so didn't get it). Now £9.99 - so had to buy!

FrancesJ · 17/09/2002 13:32

Oops, forgotten about maternity pads - euurgh, how could I ever forget them. Glad your ds had a lovely birthday Joe1, and will cross fingers that you get two born on due dates - odds? no idea, but they must be astronomical - would be lovely if you beat them, though.

Indigestion, hmmm, well, I'm not too bad, but probably shouldn't say that since is tempting providence. Have become addicted to hot chocolate in the evening though. We're not talking just one large mug, either. Was woken up at 4.30 though, but by a small child, not feelings of nausea. Why, why has dd decided that between 4.30-5.00 is an ideal time to get up and greet the morning. Aaargh.

Joe1 · 18/09/2002 10:14

Still here so unless something happens later on looks like it might go with 2nd October or somewhere in between. Bump has dropped so low though, doesnt look like Im 9months. Also baby movements have slowed right down so who knows.

I too have been drinking Horlicks at night, perhaps it is because of not sleeping, wishful thinking that it might help. Had hardly any last night, what with being uncomfortable, had a dog with a poorly tummy, so had about 4 hours. Got up early, took dh to station and went shopping. Been doing cleaning too, not something I normally enjoy.

Enid · 18/09/2002 10:46

Was thinking of you this morning Joe, you must be on tenterhooks thinking the baby could come any minute. I got my TENS machine from Boots this morning so am prepared to go into labour - unfortunately our local hospital has an 'epidemic' of a gastro-bug and lots of wards have been closed...mmm, not looking forward to going in there! So hopefully they'll have sorted that by the time I go into labour!

Was supposed to go for a glucose tolerance test yesterday as had sugar in my wee for the second time - yawn, had exactly this with dd and didnt have diabetes so I chickened out and didn't go (blamed it on the bug at the hospital!) - have to face the wrath of my scary midwife this afternoon. Have been drinking lots of water and avoiding sugar - have just done sample so am now tucking into a donut

Im quite relaxed about it Enid but Dh is a wreck. Im just trying to not think about birth, wasnt an issue last time didnt know what to expect but this time I do. Just hope it is quicker. I cant believe how low my bump has dropped, it is almost out of sight.

Joe1 · 18/09/2002 14:20

Oh forgot to add, enjoy that doughnut

FrancesJ · 21/09/2002 22:37

Hope the sample got the all-clear, Enid! Hope that everyone is well (I'm trying hard not to sound like those relatives that keep ringing up asking 'any news'.

Know what you mean about dh a wreck, joe1. Mine, sweetie though he is, doesn't seem to be able to shake off a theory that I can choose, somehow, when to go into labour, and keeps saying things along the lines of: 'tonight would be a good night, then I can miss taking year four tomorrow'....aaargh. It's sooo annoying. And he has started taking the mobile everywhere, even to the village shop (10 minutes walk away). He's broodier than me

Joe1 · 23/09/2002 08:56

Im still here, though think things are brewing, although I could be wrong of course. Dh was really poorly on Thursday, passed out at doctors, had a Viral Gastric thing, had to have an injection and was told no hospital for atleast 48 hours so he gave me strict instructions no labour. We were both very pleased nothing happened.

Thought things were starting last night but nothing so maybe in next few days I will have some news, fingers crossed.

Hope all is going ok for everybody else. Any news from Enid or Sofia?

Enid · 23/09/2002 09:51

Oooh how exciting. My blood test came back clear (as I knew it would) so am avoiding sugar before any samples so I don't have to go back again!

Had definite pains last night, very uncomfortable and then I started to shake - exactly what happened with dd so I started running around packing my bag...then went to bed, took a couple of painkillers and a mug of hot milk and nothing else happened, not really expecting anything else, anyway dp is away in Harrogate for a couple of days so baby not allowed to come early!

Poor dh Joe1 - so you''ve already got 2 babies to look after

Joe1 · 23/09/2002 12:35

Looks like we might have them all quite close then Enid.

Had to play nurse for a couple of days, dh with his gastric virus, ds with his stinking cold. I have also been suffering with a cold and feeling pretty grotty so was hoping wouldnt go into labour as I dont think I would have had the energy. Glad everyone is now on the mend. I have had a burst of energy, dont know where it came from, and have scrubbed the hall and downstairs toilet. I have a pile of ironing to do and then I think I am pretty much up to date.

So you also have to go round with your legs crossed for a couple of days then so your dp can be there.

Glad your tests were ok.

I am so uncomfortable, movements cut right down, just feels that everything is getting ready. Who knows though, Ill probably be saying the same thing next week, though I would prefer not to

Ems · 23/09/2002 13:18

Its sounding very close Joe1! Wishing you lots of luck. Theres some definite late nesting going on, put your feet up for a bit!

Ems · 23/09/2002 13:21

You too Enid, just read your post.

Thinking of your husband in Harrogate reminded me of ds1, husband HAD to go to Manchester near my due date, I was really nervous and didnt want him to go. Spookily enough labour started 3am of the morning he was due to go. (ds 5 days early). And then the importance of Manchester faded into insignificance!

debster · 23/09/2002 19:54

Hi everyone

37 weeks and counting. Had a show (I think!) on Friday and have been having intermittent lower back pains. Ds was 3 weeks early and midwife is convinced this one will be too. Fundus height now 39 cms. Getting quite nervous as first labour was induced and so I have no idea of what it will be like going into labour naturally. Also hoping to have a home birth this time round.

The Symphysis Pubis Dysfunction is causing excrutiating pain whenever I move and turning over in bed now takes me up to a minute. I so want this pregnancy to be over but need to hang on one more week so that ds can move into newly decorated bedroom before baby arrives. I can barely find the energy to sort through old baby clothes.

Sorry for moaning but dp is busy getting said bedroom ready and I need to get it off my chest.

MABS · 23/09/2002 20:28

Debster, pleased to hear you're getting there, not long to go now - I'm assuming you won't be joining us for lunch on the 5th then....?

Scuba · 23/09/2002 22:34

Couldn't cope with the length of this thread, just wanted to say good luck everyone.

Enid · 24/09/2002 08:22

poor debster, I sympathise. I don't have Spd but have had terrible sacro-iliac pain that is now being treated by a physio, its been a fantastic treatment. I am still in a lot of pain some evenings but its nowhere near as bad as I was afraid it would be. I completely understand what you mean about turning over in bed, its horrible isnt it. God knows how i'm going to give birth as I find any 'on your back' position completely excruciating. Hey ho.

I think you may be due on the same day as me, are you 38 weeks on Sat? Sounds like things are moving much quicker for you than for me, fundus height only 36 so I am prepared for a long and frustrating wait.

Good luck with the bedroom sorting, we have given up completely and have decided to tackle it after Christmas - baby is going in with me in the spare room and dd gets to keep her room for another few months. I have been so laid back about this baby its not true, I remember crying about this time last pg because I didn't have the buggy I wanted for dd. This time I have vowed to just have the baby, try and recover and get everyone else to do the shopping/decoration rather than me running around like a blue a**ed fly trying to be superwoman

Not nice Debster, fingers crossed you are early.

I had a bit of tightening yesterday with a few little stitch pains but still nothing definite. Baby movements really slowed right down and I keep trying to wake it up to make sure all is ok. Dh asked me if it was worth him getting a weekly train ticket this morning, was there any signs of labour. Wish there was.

Debster, I too am a little nervous of labour as I know what is going to happen, only thing is it will more than likely be quicker which helps. It doesnt last that long though and all will soon be over. I think I am more worried about leaving ds, will grandparents sort out arrangements between them or not, hoping noone will tell ds I have had baby and what it is. Ill be pushing it out so I dont have to leave him very long.

Oh well, Im going to paint today, trying to do spare room up for a playroom and spend another day of telling everybody I speak to that I still havnt had it.

Enid · 26/09/2002 15:04

Nothing to report, just wondered if there had been any other news, Sofiaames, Tetley, debster, Joe1, how are you all?

I have been having lots of twinges and the baby is so low its not true, I was literally having to cross my legs this morning while talking to dd's nursery teacher - what is that weird feeling? Its like an electric shock in your nether regions. Still no real signs of labour though, so I'm resigned to another couple of weeks. Itching to get on with it, especially as midwife wrote 'Well and ready to deliver' in my notes which makes me feel like a runner in the starting blocks waiting for the pistol...

Thanks guys for all your comments. I have started a new thread on waters breaking early that I'd really appreciate some advice on. (Didn't want to hijack this one).

FrancesJ · 26/09/2002 20:18

Just wanted to wish you luck with the water's breaking thing, Debster (I haven't any advice to offer, so have popped the luck here rather than there). Cross fingers you'll start having contractions soon, have a glorious natural birth and won't need to worry any more about waters. Lots of luck !

WideWebWitch · 26/09/2002 20:54

Just wanted to say HOW EXCITING everyone! You all seem so close to labour and I'm enjoying experiencing all this vicariously rather than for real Good luck all...

Hi Enid et al - yes, I'm still here too. Baby is definately getting lower & lower! (I don't remember feeling this with ds, but perhaps I'm just being forgetful )
I'm hoping that I don't have to go the full 2 & a bit weeks that I've got left, but we'll see. Braxton Hicks definately stronger & more painful than in 1st pregnancy - so much so that I keep thinking 'is this labour...'. Just kidding myself & willing it to happen I think!

Good luck to everyone else - is Debster going to be first to the post.....?

Queenie · 29/09/2002 12:26

Looks like I am going in tomorrow at 7.30 am to be induced and I am not looking forward to it.

ionesmum · 29/09/2002 15:32

Best of luck, Queenie xxx
