Nervous about NCT classes tonight

My first class starts tonight and I'm worried about how I'll fit in. My classes are in a very Middle class/posh area, so I can only imagine people are going to turn up as married couples in their mid-30s. I'm 23 and single!

I feel like I'll be judged by the other mum-to-be's. Someone please reassure me Sad

You'll be fine. I don't think people do NCT to judge others. You're all there to learn what you need to and to build a support network for afterwards. You'll be fine.

Once you've finished your course - leading up to (maternity leave) and after the birth the partners won't feature very very much so all the mums will have each other to talk to and share concerns, and hopefully make friends! Go with an open mind. Smile

You're right, I need to go with an open mind. Thank you Smile

If anything they'll be worried about you and want to make sure you're supported.

As Tree said, it very quickly becomes about the mums and babies meeting up anyway.

Congrats on your pregnancy.

I was 20, the youngest in my group by between 9 and 15 years. It was absolutely fine!

I made friends who were invaluable in those early days and one is still my closest friend 8 years on. Be open minded and smile!

Don't worry at all! Everyone there will most likely be a terrified first time parent, and that is enough for everyone to worry about. I miss going to our classes already, everyone was lovely and we all bonded over our fears. Wink
