Hi All,
I am new here and looking for advice really.

My last period was the 21st September, on the 21st October I had a positive clear blue test showing 1-2 weeks, on the 3rd November I tested again and got positive 3+ weeks.

I had an early scan at the hospital yesterday due to 2 previous miscarriages.

They said the CRL is measuring 5.3mm and there was no heartbeat and I should go back in 10 days.

She gave me a letter and told me to be on my way, wasn't very nice to be honest.

The letter says
Ultrasound View: good
Singleton Pregnancy
Gestational Sac - Present
Yolk Sac - Present
Embryo present: Fetal heart activity too early to determine
CRL 5.3mm
Diagnosis based on ultrasound findings: viable intraterine pregnancy

I have since found out that this letter is wrong due to the lady clicking on the wrong drop down box as there is no way it can be a viable pregnancy without a heartbeat.

I should have been 7 weeks 4 days yesterday but by the measurements it seems to be around just over 6 weeks, the nurse didn't tell me this.

I looked back at my fertility app and even though my period was the 21st for 3 days I had light bleeding on the 26th. So going by the 26th the measurements should be right?

Basically I don't really know what I am asking I just want some advice to keep me sane!

I have booked in to a private clinic on Wednesday and hopefully they should shed some light.

When should I see a heartbeat? Am I being optimistic keeping my hopes up?

Sorry for the long post
X

I had early scan this week. Found 2 yolks sacs one fetus no hb. I was devastated but much calmer now. I am still preg. Clear blue showing 3+ weeks and still symptoms. Iv to go bk on 23rd for another scan. It could be that ur cycle was a bit longer this month. Light bleeding is v common in early pregnancy so wouldn't worry about that too much. I was 6 weeks 0.days when I got scanned. Please try not to worry too much as iv read loads of posts like this and everything was ok. No one can guarantee a good outcome, unfortunately. But think ur worry could be premature. Xx

Hello thank you for your reply.... I haven't had any bleeding at all since 26th September which would have been before I was pregnant. I am supposed to go back to the hospital on the 23rd but I am going to see the private clinic first on Wednesday. I have lost confidence in the hospital getting the letter wrong. I mean this is people's life's not a joke... I hope you are right and I am worrying for nothing x

Dates are often wrong, due to ovulation at different times for different people etc. I wouldn't say the letter is wrong as such- it looks positive that gest sac and yolk sac were both seen. I had scan early and there wss no heartbeat but they weren't worried at all and when I went back 2 weeks later little bean had grown and there was a heartbeat

HippyChickMama · 14/11/2015 17:21

In what way is the letter wrong? Fetal heart doesn't start to beat until around 6-7 weeks. If your dates are out, which they can be by as much as 10 days, the pregnancy can still be viable without a fetal hb. No one can promise you that nothing will go wrong but no hb at this stage doesn't necessarily mean the end. Fingers crossed for you

I was told by 2 private clinics that the letter should not say it's a viable pregnancy without a heartbeat...... So much conflicting information I am so confused. This is my first baby you can probably tell.
I have seen so many posts where people have seen heartbeats at like 5 weeks and I should be 7 + 5 by last period or just over 6 by the 1 day of spotting and I was measuring 5.3mm.... Just confused and worried but trying not to give up hope x

According to my app, baby is 6mm at 6 weeks, which you say could be almost right by other bleeding. You might be just under 6 weeks. Also 6 weeks is still early for HB. I think you just need to wait but at the moment, you ate pregnant. Good luck on Wednesday.

When I had an early scan due to a previous mmc they recommended not going in before 8 weeks as heartbeat is sometimes not detectable before that.

When I had my mmc I was told (kindly) that they would need to rescan a week later as the fetal measurement was too small to confirm no heartbeat (so they would look for no growth at next scan to confirm). They were very clear that they did not expect it to be a good outcome and i was given a leaflet with choices for managing the mc.

I think they think it is just too early to see a heartbeat in your case but that it is a viable pregnancy. Good luck and best wishes.

I had an early scan at 7 weeks due to eptopic scare. Found two little sacs and two tiny babies but couldn't make out heart beats. Went back at 10 weeks and both had strong heartbeats, now 16 weeks pregnant and all is healthy and both twins are growing just fine. Whatever happens I wish you the best, I know it's so hard but try not to over stress too much Thanks
