Hi all. I just found out I'm pregnant. It was confirmed this morning that I'm 4 weeks and 3 days. I've got cramps in my lower tummy. They are not uncomfortable or painful. I keep feeling as though they are in the middle of my tummy but also keep thinking I've noticed them on the right hand side as well. Does anyone know if this is normal? Any advice would be greatly appreciated Smile

Hi fairydust85,

Is this your first pregnancy?

Easier said then done I know but try not to worry- sounds like ligament pain, everything is starting to stretch and make space for your baby so I would expect there to be a little cramping. If it gets painful and/or you experience heavy bleeding (soak a sanitary towel) then I would advise you to get it checked.

Someone will probably be along with a little more experience to reassure you but try and relax for now, sounds completely normal :)

Xxx

Hi OP, I had cramps in my tummy during the first few weeks of pregnancy and was v worried too - But I had my 12wk scan yesterday and my baby is healthy and things are fine. The cramps subsided around the 7 week mark for me. Midwife said it was probably just the body stretching and making baby-space as Win said.

So try not to worry! If you're really concerned and the cramps get worse or more frequent though, ring your doc / midwife.

Thank you for your replies :) it is my first pregnancy and I really don't want to be one of those annoying, constantly worried kind of women! Lol! Cramps have eased off a bit this afternoon anyway but will try not to stress too much :) will mention them when I go for booking in appointment :)
