False labour at 32+4 weeks?

I've had Braxton Hicks contractions for the past few weeks so know that these are relatively, if not completely painless and just feel like a tightening of the uterus.

However, today I experienced what felt more like real contractions. They came in waves, where at the peak the pain was almost scream-worthy, if I could find the breath to scream. They lasted between 15 and 38 seconds each and I had about a dozen of them, 5-8 minutes apart each. The pain was entirely round the front and not in my back, so I knew it wasn't real labour.

And now they've gone. Has anyone else experienced this and do you have any advice? I only worry because what I've read of false labour, it usually happens no more than a few weeks before you go into real labour. But I am nearly 8 weeks off of that!

personally I would phone triarge as I had the same and worked out to be bad BH due to stress from work, standing on my feet for 9 hours a day and the LO lying on a nerve.

I was scared as mine was also in my back. That's all the advice I can give you sorry

I had a similar experience last week at 32+3, I was having regular contractions (mild but definitely contractions - third baby) bang on every 4 minutes for a good few hours..phoned hospital, went in for obs and although contractions were showing on the monitor there was no dilation so sent home, they tailed off the next day.
Since then I've felt different, cant put my finger on it, just more achey and odd but baby still inside and healthy.

Id phone hospital for advice if it happens again just to be safe, hopefully its just our bodies gearing up and means our babies will arrive nice and quickly at 39 weeks! Grin
