Maternity Winter Coat

I bought the most lovely warm winter coat off of Zulily. Brand is Momo, which you can't get in the UK. Price included all taxes as shipped from US. Shipping was £3.99. Just thought I would recommend as I couldn't find a down filled maternity coat in the UK.

A HUNDRED QUID for a coat that will fit for a few weeks?! Some people are bonkers.

Agree running I'm being induced in ten days and have refused to buy coat until I give birth as maternity coats are extortion and normal coats don't go over bump as its huge.

I just wore a normal coat, wore open and added a thick scarf to cover the gap/ bump at front. No additional cost of you already own a large scarf, otherwise buy a large scarf but can wear for years after

I then did the same with baby in a sling and wrapped scarf around baby and sling

I didn't have a coat with dd1 but she was born in Nov. This one's due in April so I have the coldest months and Yorkshire weather to contend with. And I'm nesh so I think I need one this time

Damn it sepa, I wanted that coat but when the weather turned I was getting desperate, they were sold out in all but xl! I had to buy a more expensive one from topshop.

I think if you can make do with a normal one great, I really resented spending the money (ds was a September baby so I didn't need one last time). But my normal coat was getting too small all over due to weight/water, so my arm movement was getting restricted, and even with a scarf on I was not warm enough with it open. I spend a lot of time outside with my 3yo in all weathers, I need two hands for most things and can't be constantly rearranging various layers. So although I really didn't want to part with £70, so far it's been money well spent. If I don't have any more dc I can sell it.

A way to shop the scarf and open coat moving is to add a large belt over the top. But that obviously depends on bump size. Ds1 was born in February but my bump was still fairly small over December/ jan/ feb

Fatima, it's on order so I will let you know when it turns up. Even deciding what size to get is a nightmare. I went for a large so hopefully it will look good.

I bought one from Vertbaudet using their 30% voucher so about £70. I agree it's expensive for a maternity coat (£100 before discount too) but it's one you can wear after maternity too and has a cover for a sling, so I'll give it a whirl. I plan to look after it well and eBay it after!!

I'll wear mine after the baby too as it has drawstrings just below boobs so can have some sort of shape.

Another vote for the h am m parka. I'm 33 weeks but been wearing it for a while and because it has the drawstring I could pull it in a bit. It's great now the weather is getting miserable. I got the m and am usually as 12-14 and it fits fine, probably a bit big but means there's room to wear jumpers underneath it

Have the 40 quid H&M one - it's an awkward fit on me, I was a busty 10-12 pre-pregnancy and a medium is quite big on me but a small is tight in the shoulders.

Ah, I'm a 12-14. Maybe I should have got the M one and not large. Oh well, if it's way too big I will send it home. The sizing was confusing as my bump made me really big by the measurements but they don't tell you how to work out for pregnancy!
