How much is 'normal'?
32 weeks and I've put on 2 stone (but did initially lose 7lbs in first trimester as I couldn't eat much) likely to put on more over the next few weeks obviously
Is there a recommended amount? Feeling very fat and dumpy Sad

If you're within a healthy weight range, the recommended amount to gain is between 25lbs and 35lbs. Your weight gain sounds perfectly normal Smile

Same here, evian! Altough I've now probably smashed through the 2-stone barrier, haven't weighed myself for a few weeks Blush
Every pregnancy is different, so I'm not paying too much attention to the 'recommended' weight gain stuff. With DS, I put on over 3 st, so anything under that is fine with me. I am also one of those people who just have to look at a slice of cake to gain a few more pounds.

I would say that as long as you eat healthily, it's fine!

Recommended gain is between 1.8 stone and 2.5 stone (If like me you don't really understand lbs), which is the same as between 11 and 16 kilograms.

Obviously that's just a guideline for someone who was a healthy weight before pregnancy - if you were the lower end of a healthy weight, then you'd be expected to gain towards the upper end of that, and vice versa.

There's no need to get fixated on the numbers - provided you are managing to stay within around about those sort of figures, and you know you aren't totally stuffing your face, eating loads of junk, and keeping as active as possible, then you will gain as much as you need to/your body wants you to.

Don't forget at this point as well that some of the "dumpiness" will be partly due to a bit of swelling (which is normal) and water - it's not necessarily just pure fat you are seeing!

I put on around 3.5 stone both times. It came off. No point fretting about it, because it's beyond your control really.

I suppose I could have eaten less, but I was SO HUNGRY all the time in late pregnancy!

I've put on just over half a stone at 26 weeks but I was already overweight beforehand.

It says between 11 pounds and 1.4 stone for someone obese beforehand like myself so perhaps doing OK.

If you're overweight, but not drastically so between just over a stone and 2 stone.

I was towards the top end of my bmi although I have been eating healthier for the last few weeks I was eating a bit crap in the second trimester - think lack of food in the first from nausea just made me crave carbs when I could eat again.
I'm not too worried about losing the weight as such , it'll be Xmas time so will just do the New Years Diets and gym routines with everyone else Grin

Thanks for replying everyone Brew
